Car Sticker Advertising in Manila

Being in a marketing related industry, I get excited when I hear new ideas. Although the idea of mobile (literally mobile, as in car) advertising is not new, this myfreegas company has a unique approach of slamming brands in our faces -- stickering the cars' behind kind of advertising. It might or might not work because this depends on the person behind the wheel. For me, this will work because I love reading things around me and more so when it's traffic.

Yoh-Gurt Froz Shangrila Rustans Revisited

One of my favorite places to hang out and setup meetings when I'm in Shangrila mall is in YohFroz at the basement level, right outside the Rustans grocery. It's quiet there, there's ample space to move and best of all... free WiFi! (They have electrical sockets too!) If you're in Shangrila mall and you're looking for a place to hangout, this is the best spot to stay!

Flapjacks Blockbuster Favorites - Back, Better and Best!

Flapjacks is the American or Canadian term for pancakes and we might think that this place serves breakfast food. They do serve breakfast but they also offer full meals. Their specialties are pancakes but I haven't tried them yet because this time, I tried their Back... Better... Best meals! Yep, our old favorite comfort foods are back in Flapjacks!

First Ever Blogapalooza in Manila

Over the years, I've had my fair share of blogging events and it's just recently that I have been picky on the events I am attending because of my busy schedule. Since most of the guys at WheninManila are my friends, I decided to prioritize their event that they organized. Upon reading it, "Lovapalooza" popped up in my mind. It's Blogapalooza pala! I thought, "It must have the same concept without the hugging and the kissing. It must be good then."

Blogapalooza is a first here in the Philippines as far as I know. There were a lot of presentors that day and I wasn't able to take all of them in. Good for my short attention span but bad for my selective memory. I only took note of the items I am particularly interested in.

*Below is an online version of the Blogapalooza event last September 2011*
Disclosure, all the presenters gave away some freebies inside the lootbag.

Vintage Coca Cola Bottles - Coke Collection

As I've previously featured a bit of my mom's Coca Cola collection, below is some more Coca Cola items, Coke Bottles in particular. I bought her a 1915 Coke Bottle just yesterday (not in the photo below). She is into Coke items. If you have a unique item, email me. Maybe we can do some exchange as we have some duplicates (Like an early 19th century Coca Cola bottle, some mugs etc) On my next post, I'll show you her Coca Cola refrigerator and vending machine.

As a guide, I found a Coca Cola bottle chart on the internet so you can match which bottle is from what decade.

Enjoy matching some of the Coke bottles below :)

Interesting Finds in CDR King - iPhone 4 zoom lens, Apple AV Cable etc

As if the items inside CDR-King aren't enough. I first became aware of CDR king when I was in college. i bought blank discs there as part of some school requirements and for car audio. I copy my original CDs and I used the duplicate CD. At that time, they only sold CDR related items like CD markers, CD labeler and stuff.

Fast forward to 2011, they are selling a wide variety of items! I remember seeing some lumbar support pillow last year!

Here are some of the interesting items I saw recently:
Apple car charger - Php 80.00
Apple AV Cable - Php 250 (so you can connect your iPad to your TV. Original Apple AV cable costs around 2,000 pesos)
iPhone 4 case - Php 100.00

iPhone 4 zoom lens - Php 380 or Php 580 (I'm not sure with the difference)

USB Laser Presenter - Php 880.00
Rechargeable AA battery and charger - Php 180.00

I'm not sure about the life span of the items but my memory card reader from them is still alive after several years. I've read some reviews about their items being not so good in terms of life span but I guess its hit or miss. What's your most recent CDRking find?

Coke Happiness Truck -- Spread Laughter and Happiness Everyday!

Yesterday, I saw a status posted by a friend and it made me laugh. I reposted it and a lot of people did too.
(Check out my Facebook account to read it)

Today, my brother saw a video and it caught my attention. This was something cool done by Coca Cola here in the Philippines. A truck will go around with a button at the rear of it. For every push, a random gift item will appear in the vendo like hole at the rear of the truck.

Although it was a bit similar (only a bit, in the random gift part to the James Ready Blank Cap Recall marketing campaign.) Check out the videos below and may you be enlightened with marketing ideas and other ideas that will make others happy! Enjoy! Live Positively!

Moshi Moshi Handset with Base - MM02 Review

I've spent a lot of money looking for the perfect solution to make mobile phone calls more comfortable. I've tried Bluetooth headsets (That makes you look like a cyborg), headset (That easily gets tangled up and keeps falling off my ears) and the traditional way of answering phone calls. Problem is, the heat your mobile phone produces can get very uncomfortable. Also, the clarity can be a little stressful to understand at times.

I found a great solution that addresses a wide variety of unspoken problems and it'll change the way you talk whether you use your cellphone to chat with your clients, office mates or business contacts. It's nothing revolutionary but it's something a lot of people might be wishing for unconsciously. It's a stlyish wired headset that looks like a handset and I am loving it!

Bulgogi Brothers in Manila -- A Korean Barbeque Restaurant Chain

Korean barbeque restaurant chain "Bulgogi Brothers" from Korea will be officially open to the public starting September 10, 2011 in Manila, Philippines. The first branch is located in Greenbelt 5 and is operated by Creative Restaurant Concept (CRCI). It is heart warming how much confidence Mr. Zeus Yi, the firm's president has in the Philippines to open the first overseas branch here in the Philippines. In December 2011, they plan to open another branch here in Metro Manila and another one in Cebu. Bulgogi Brothers has 28 branches in Korea and they plan to open 4 more within the year.

Bulgogi Brothers specializes in barbeque dishes of Korean cuisines. Well, literally translating it, Bulgogi Brothers means "Beef Brothers". This is why I wasn't surprised that their meat dishes are so good! I was fortunate to be one of the first few people to have tried Bulgogi Brothers before it even officially opens in Manila.

Inside Bulgogi Brothers - taken with Instagram
I love the chic yet cozy design of the place. The ambiance is also great! From the lights to the walls, everything is complimenting each other and being able to visit Korea several times, I must admit that it actually made me feel that I was really in Korea. See for yourselves. Good job with the interiors!

If you're afraid of taking home the smell from the food that you cooked with your induction cooker with you, worry no more! Their ventilation system is good that even after eating for a long time, the smell didn't stick to my shirt! I guess this is important to a lot of people as a lot of restaurant that has a shabu-shabu/ personal grill concepts makes you smell like food after your meal.

Love the light!
Let's get down to business. Food. Of course, why would it be called Bulgogi Brothers if their specialty ain't beef? But don't worry, they also have A LOT of vegetable dishes. If I can sum this restaurant up in 2 words, it would be Beef + Vegetables.

Our Appetizer - Corn, sweet potatoes and quail eggs | FOC
Sogogi Naengchae | Php350.00

Sogogi Naengchae is beef with fresh vegetables in an oriental dressing. In their menu, it also mentioned there that this dish is best ordered with Baekseju. Baekseju literally means "one-hundred-years wine". It is a Korean glutinous rice-based fermented alcoholic beverage flavored with a variety of herbs, ginseng most prominent among them. The beef was soft and tender and the dressing was mild yet tasty. Not too strong to overpower the taste of the beef. This is a great dish to start your Bulgogi Brothers experience.

Sogogi Japchae | Php 350.00
Sogogi Japchae is a dish made with glass noodles, beef, bell pepper and onions, seasoned with soy sauce. It is best paired with Chungha (Korean sake (13% alcohol). The presentation is great and it keeps the dish warm at the same time. The glass noodles is very "chewy". Far from the glass noodles we usually taste here in Manila. Feast for the eyes and the tummy because it is colorful and yummy!

Haemul Gungjung Mandu | 6 pcs Php 450.00 / 10 pcs Php 675.00
Haemul Gungjung Mandu is fried dumpling with seafood (mussels, shrimp and squid) served with spicy sauce. This one is best paired with Maechousun (Fruity and sweet plum flavored drink). If you don't eat very spicy food, it is safe to order this because the sauce is in a separate sauce bowl. Same with the previous dish, the presentation is great and keeps the food warm. The dumpling filling is green and I wasn't able to ask if it was vegetables or minced seafood inside. Soft in the inside, crunchy on the outside. If you love dumplings, get this.

Sogogi Beoseot Bokkeum | Php 395.00
Sogogi Beoseot Bokkeum is stir fried beef with assorted vegetables (green pepper, red pepper, onion, bok choy and button mushrooms). This matches with Chungha (Korean sake (13% alcohol). Bok choy is chinese cabbage. Still, served in a keep-warm plate. The presentation for this one isn't very "decorated" because I guess it's hard to present a dish with sauce and that many ingredients. Still, the beef was tasty and tender plus the vegetables were fresh. I can't seem to remember how the sauce tasted but throughout the night, I do not have any strong objections for any of the food served so I guess this was just okay.

Seoul Style Bulgogi (Before)
Seoul Style Bulgogi (After)
Sliced beef with vegetables. The bulgogi broth used is made of fruits, onions and soy sauce. Best paired with Makguli ( Rice wine with 6~7% alcohol content). This one is good. This I can remember clearly along with the next dish I will show you. Definitely recommended and a must order when dining in Bulgogi Brothers!

Gwangyang Style Bulgogi | 2-3pax Php 595.00 / 4-6pax Php 895.00
Gwangyang Style Bulgogi ( Php 595.00 ) is seasoned beef with sweet sauce and served with bean sprout, sesame leaf and green onions. They recommend that you get Baekseju (Korean glutinous rice-based fermented alcoholic beverage flavored with a variety of herbs) to go with this dish. Okay, this is like our 4th dish and now, I was having a hard time distinguishing the dish. The only thing I remember and is common is, the beef is still tasty and tender. I told you, Bulgogi Brothers is about Beef and Veggies.

Bulgogi Brothers Special | Source: Bulgogi Brothers Menu
Bulgogi Brothers Special is somethng really special. Not only is it good to look at because they are presented in a heart shape but, this also tastes very good! This is their special and it is seasoned to perfection. (Un-yang and Gwang-yang Style Bulgogi). Although a bit pricey at Php 1,495 and it's only good for 2-3 pax, sure is very good! I think it's around 10 pcs. Another must order! It's so good that I wasn't even able to take photo of it. LOL.

Jjigae Brothers | Php 495.00
Jjigae Brothers is a combination of Kimchi Jjigae (Spicy stew made with ripened Kimchi, pork and tofu / Bet served with Soju) and Haemul Doenjang-Jjigae (Soybean stew with assorted seafood & vegetables / Best served with Bokbunja Bahae). No need to explain what Soju is, I presume as it is the most popular liquor in Korea. Bokbunja Bahae on the other hand is a rare fruit that tastes sweet. It is said to be good for anti-aging.

I don't find the Haemul Doenjang-Jjigae good. It might be because I am full but the taste has nothing special. BUT the Kimchi Jjigae is very very good! A definite must order! A little warning though as it is spicy and a bit sour, just like Kimchi. Try it and you'll know what I am talking about.

Below is the menu of Bulgogi Brothers:

Fresh, tasty and a great dining experience! If you are a beef lover, go now! This is why I am looking forward to my next visit in Bulgogi Brothers as it is 맛있는! (delicious!). I am also excited to try out the other dishes that they offer! Bon Appétit!

The Sandwich Guy - Best Sandwich in Metro Manila

If there's one food that most of us are familiar about that is easy to create, it would be sandwiches. pasta, rice meals and burgers are harder, takes time and effort to prepare. A sandwich on the other hand is as easy as 1-2-3! As defined,
"A sandwich is a food item, typically consisting of two or more slices of bread with one or more fillings between them"
So, take a bread, open up the middle and put whatever filling you want and you have yourself a sandwich!

Smart Netphone 701 - Internet phone designed for Filipinos

http://www.sxc.hu/pic/m/s/sq/sqback/1307593_mobile_phone_in_hand.jpg

Flashback early 2000. Everyone was into texting to the point that telcos started to charge us per SMS sent. We were dubbed as the text messaging capital of the world. Forward a bit and everyone was into unlimited calls. It became the "landline" counterpart and our phones become sooo hot you can cook eggs with it in minutes (You might need a Moshi Moshi )! A year or 2 back, majority of the carriers provided wireless landline services. It's like "call all you can" for local landlines.

C' Italian Dining in Angeles Pampanga

It was a long weekend and it's the only time we have free time to travel far. Me and my fiance went to Angeles Pampanga to check out some of the furniture makers there. We weren't afraid to get lost because we were using the car's GPS. It was accurate enough to lead us to the furniture shop and to C Italian Dining restaurant located along Don Juico Avenue near SM Clark. I've been hearing a lot of buzz about it and finally, we can now try it out.

Demolish the KFC Tower Burger and Win a Singapore F1 Night Race

When I first heard of the Tower Burger, I was surprised because it was only something I imagined before. This huge burger is a challenging challenge to take on! 2 minutes to finish this HUGE burger? Nooo way! That's what I thought at first.

The first time I tried it, I almost succeeded. I had to try it again just to overcome the challenge. I did it again and I succeeded although I wasn't able to swallow the last few bites within the 2-minute deadline, I did my best to demolish the burger within 2 minutes.
