Suzhou: Eastern Chinese Cuisine in Metro Manila

There's this new restaurant in Bonifacio Global City that serves eastern Chinese cuisine which has been open for a few months now. Eastern Chinese cuisine is a lot different from the usual Chinese restaurants we experience here in Manila. It's a place where you can have modern Shanghainese comfort food.

But as I talked to the owners, I realized that this is not that new after all! In fact, I've already been to Suzhou restaurant a lot of times without noticing the brand because they've already rebranded. It's my first time in this branch but I frequented the one inside Promenade Greenhills the most! They usually have the hole-in-the-wall type of restaurants in the past and this branch is their first upscale restaurant and a few more coming soon. Makati is their next target location as per the owner.

Best Rihanna Collab Songs

How awesome is Rihanna? Blasting through the scene with her Pon De Replays, S.O.S’s and Umbrella-ella-ellas, (couldn’t resist!) almost nobody with a television set can’t possibly not have heard of her.

With that distinctive voice of hers --- the type you hardly get enough of, it’s no surprise that she’s amassed eleven top 40 hit singles since her debut. For now, you’d have to wonder how other stars see her --- they all love her, and are willing to let her inject her unique vocal stylings in their songs --- whether it be to make new guaranteed singles, or remix several pre-existing songs.

Here are several of my favorite collaborations she’s done:

With Maroon 5 – “If I Never See Your Face Again”

Adam Levine’s no stranger to collaborations --- remember “Heard ‘Em Say” from Kanye’s album? In this song (and video) Rihanna and Adam seem to have a love-hate relationship going on, in-between verses, and then subsequently reverting to liking each other again. Featured on Maroon 5’s last album, it features the bands trademark sound, complemented by Rihanna’s voice.

With T.I. – “Live Your Life”

Sampling “Dragonstea Din Tei,” how could this song not catch your attention? As a bonus, it’s a shout-out to all the troops in Iraq.

With Ne-Yo – “Hate That I Love You”

This has to be one of the sexiest songs to come out in 2007. At first you’d start thinking that it’s just another RnB-dance-along tune, but the lyrics are deeper, almost hinting at obsession.

With Chris Brown – “Umbrella (Cinderella Remix)”

Because this is where it all started. A remix of what is arguably Rihanna’s most popular song since “S.O.S.” --- it has a couple of verses that reverse Umbrella’s “looking for someone to share an umbrella with,” with “looking for the one with the glass slippers,” the princess. This was way before there was even any rumor that they were seeing each other.

With only a few days left, you could catch both of them LIVE in Taguig, Philippines. Globe is a major sponsor!
