Bedol: Caught the second time around.

Bedol, who was suspended from his job, was also implicated in an alleged vote fraud in Mindanao during the hotly contested May 2004 presidential election that Mrs. Arroyo won.

His name was mentioned in recorded conversations between a woman sounding like Mrs. Arroyo and a man believed to be another poll official, Virgilio Garcillano, in which it appeared they were plotting to rig the votes.

The President had denied the accusation, but publicly apologized for what she said was poor judgment on her part. The controversy led to two failed impeachment attempts in Congress and a mass resignation of half her Cabinet.

---

Bedol is already in the custody of our policemen. We are just avoiding giving further announcements because the media will surely be all over him. I would say that we will bring him to Comelec [Commission on Elections] as soon as possible. Maybe even before [Tuesday], Calderon said.

It was Chief Supt. Joel Goltiao, the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao police director, who said Bedol was arrested at a clinic in Maguindanao midnight Sunday.

Goltiao said Bedol did not resist policemen who served the arrest order issued Saturday by the Comelec en banc. The arrest order gave the police until July 3 to present Bedol.

He said Bedol underwent a minor eye operation in the clinic and was resting when arrested.

=======

There are some people who really doesn't learn. If the first election fraud claims were true, he may hve gotten a large mass of money that urged him to do this second election fraud.

but, He was accused for the first time in 2004, that means, you really cant get away with it. why do it again? for money? well, understandable but, rot in hell if you really did it.

7 senators, attend their last.

It’s goodbye for seven senators who are attending their last three session days of the 13th Congress.

Franklin Drilon, Sergio Osmeña III, Ramon Magsaysay Jr. and Juan Flavier finished their two terms while Luisa Ejercito opted not to run last elections. Ralph Recto lost in his re-election bid and Alfredo Lim won as Manila mayor. Lim, for his part, said he would be back home, too, in Manila, and warned lawbreakers to "cooperate or evaporate." Lim, known as dirty Harry, will rid of Manila's dirty crooks.

They have served well and doesn't want to put more dirt in their name. being a public official like them is not easy with all the stuffs going on around and the risk of putting dirt in their names.

"The results of the elections last May 14 displayed the growing maturity and wisdom of the Filipino as a voter. Our people, well-informed and discerning, decided to send a very strong message to the administration that said, ‘we have had enough, it is time for serious reforms. We want people who can deliver’," he said in a speech.

"We must be ever more vigilant to put a stop to the systematic looting of the treasury. We cannot allow our already overburdened taxpayers to suffer due to the greed of those in power," Magsaysay said.

"They must be put under the glare of transparency and public ridicule and they must be held accountable. We cannot continue to have a government of passive and unresponsive bureaucrats," he added.

Political dynasties and old winners

Only 20 congressmen have been re-elected, but political dynasties have endured and there will be a lot of old familiar names in the 14th Congress.

Escudero will be replacing his son, winning senatorial candidate and outgoing House Minority Leader Francis Escudero, who represented Sorsogon’s first district.

Seventeen other administration congressmen who have previously served their constituents either as governor, vice governor or mayor, will return as congressmen.

They are Antonio Kho of Masbate, Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. of Ilocos Norte, Al Francis Bicharra of Albay, Jose Yap of Tarlac, Pablo Garcia of Cebu, Carmencita Reyes of Marinduque, Orlando Fua Sr. of Siquijor, Pedro Romualdo of Camiguin and Eleandro Jesus Madrona of Romblon, who all served as governors of their respective provinces.

The returning congressmen who served as city mayors are Neptali “Boyet” Gonzales II of Mandaluyong and Pampanga’s Carmelo Lazatin, former mayor of Angeles City.

Others include former Maguindanao congressman Didagen Dilangalen who will now represent the new province of Shariff Kabunsuan, Jules Ledesma of Negros Occidental, Edelmiro Amante of Agusan del Norte and Magtanggol Guinigundo Jr. of Valenzuela.
