Although the 2010 elections is not until 2 years, presidential candidates and other Government position - wannabes' are already starting their own campaigns, silently.
I hope I can get the governments attention and those who are going to run for public office through this blog. People have been staging rallies and public demonstrations to get the governments attention. Some, like the recently held Metro Manila transport strike, was a success. For me, you don't need to stage rallies and the likes to get their attention. There is a big possibility that this blog won't be read by those running for presidentiables but, I hope, readers can write their own blog about what those candidates should be doing for the Environment.
These tips by the way, are not only for candidates. These are for every one of us, humans, living in planet earth.
Give a little love, and it all comes back to you (From the Coca Cola* Commercial)Although there is no guarantee that you will be remembered for the things you say and do to the environment, think about the impact it will have on your children. As parents, being environmentally conscious, will train your children to be one also. Monkey See- Monkey Do. Your children will imitate what parents do.
What will happen to their future? how about their children's future? If you REALLY love your children, you will be wanting them to have a better future. What could be a better way to start of their better future than giving him a cleaner and greener environment.
Some tips to apply this:1. Do not patronize environmentally dangerous consumer goods. (Example: Cigs - Dangerous to the health also!)
2. If you are making a business, only include environment friendly materials. Recyclables! (Example: Boxes, papers etc.)
3. Segregate your trash! Recyclables, Non-Biodegradable etc...
4. Plant trees!
5. Save water and other natural resources by not buying anything you don't need, throwing unused materials etc.

Hummer - like nothing else.

Yes, Hummer's slogan, like nothing else is really like nothing else. I am not advertising Hummer. What I am saying is, those gas guzzlers are using up our limited source of oil faster than the regular Toyota cars.

Just imagine, driving a 2km/liter Hummer H2 versus driving a 14km/liter Toyota Innova.
Daily average distance travelled - 50kilometers.
Hummer H2 Consumption - 25 liters
Toyota Innova Consumption - 4 liters (approx)
Philippine Fuel Price: 44 pesos per liter.
H2 (50km run) - 1,100.00 pesos
Innova (50km run) - 176.00 pesos
Difference of 924 .00 pesos!
Think! After buying such an expensive car, you are facing high pump prices problems. We can't defeat the fact that, a hummer is nothing like an Innova. but one thing is for sure. It brings you, Point A to Point B on less money, less pollution and less problems.
Some tips to apply this:
1. Check how "gas-guzzler" your prospective car is.
2. Car pool!
3. Maintain your car. Do not let it puff black smoke.
4. Do not apply "Jack-Rabbit" driving technique and over-speed. (Saves lives too!)
5. If its near, walk! (Good for the health!)

Nokia - Connecting People.
Yes, this is what they have been doing. In fact, they are releasing new phone models more often than before. By doing so, they are contributing to the world's tech trash. I didn't mean only Nokia does that. Tons of other companies like Sony Ericsson, Motorola, and other major tech gadget manufacturers are also contributing. Even the maker of the laptop I am currently using.
My point: It is inevitable to purchase these gadgets in the fast paced lifestyle we have now but, we can do something to minimize it.
Some tips to apply this: 1. You do not need to change phone/ gadget models everytime a new one is released.
2. Do not throw batteries in trash cans. There are designated places where you can dispose of these batteries safely.
3. Buy only those who promote "Greener" gadgets.
