ABC Network says sorry for 'racial' slur

ABC Network says sorry for 'racial' slur

The producers of the hit TV series "Desperate Housewives" on Thursday issued an apology for an insulting line that belittled the practitioners of the medical profession in the Philippines.

"The producers of Desperate Housewives and ABC Studios offer our sincere apologies for any offence caused [by the insulting remark] in the season premier," ABC Network said in a short statement of apology obtained by ABS-CBN North America News Bureau.

ABC Network added: "There was no intent to disparage the integrity of any aspect of the medical community in the Philippines."

The network's apology came after the Filipino community, particularly Filipino health workers, in the US and doctors in the Philippines deplored the insulting line uttered by actress Teri Hatcher's character, Susan Mayer in the show's Season 4 premier aired Sunday.

Terry Hatcher should have preread the script. That comment hurt the Filipino people about as much as she was hurt when she kept her sexual abuse from a relative secret all these years. I used to have some respect and admiration for her as an actress but that went out the window, I see she can be as cut throat as all the rest of the incestious celebraties in the movie / TV industry. She THINKS her comment was cute and ABC network can slobber all over themselves, it shows how asinine they are. May your sexual abuse nightmares continue to haunt you Terry Hatcher !

Okay, I realize that not everyone knows about the television industry, but that kind of line is not something she would really be able to change anyway. Actors don't have that kind of power on a television show normally. So, back off Terri Hatcher. She didn't write it. And I think rape and abuse are far worse than an remark found to be offensive for a group of medical professionals. Frankly, it's horrible of you to hope she continues to be tortured by her RAPE.

Oh for heaven's sake! Give Me A Break! People are so thin skinned now-a-days, it makes me sick. The title of the show should also make people upset - "Desparate Housewives" implies that all housewives are desparate. Yes, every housewife in America and every housewife in every other country should be upset and revolt against ABC, right? Oh shut up about it. The show is a comedy, not a documentary. Leave Terri Hatcher and ABC alone. If Filipino doctors can't laugh at themselves, then at whom can they laugh? Apparently, they are not laughing at a television show.
