Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay received 11 death threats via text message on his birthday, radio dzMM reported Monday.
Binay's security officer, Vincent Inonog, went to the Makati City Police Office on Monday to inform them about 11 text messages received by the mayor on the day of his birthday (Sunday, October 11).
Inonog said it was the eighth text message that alarmed Binay. It read: “katapusan mo na ngayon hinahatulan ka na ngayon sa kawalang hiyaan mo huwag mong subukan ang Ka Gloria mahal na mahal ko iyan, ka Bobot (Your time is up. You are being judged for your misdeeds. Don't try Ka Gloria I love her so much, Ka Bobot).”
Inonog said the mayor received the threat at 10:23 a.m. Sunday. He added that the other messages were sent from 1:02 a.m. to 10:37 a.m.
He said the messages came from cellular phone # 0920-4129555.
Senior Superintendent Gilbert Cruz, Makati City police chief, said authorities are now coordinating with the National Telecommunications Commission to identify the owner of the cellular phone number.
