Department of Health issued a directive to stop the selling of kidneys in the Philippines because of poverty. A committee has been formed to over-see kidney donors and make sure that the "donation" of the kidney is transparent and ethical.
In one documentary in GMA7, it showed that there are plenty of kidney donors (sellers) in slum areas. The cycle of selling kidneys - Donor (seller) - Middle Man - Foreigners (Buyers). Those foreigners are willing to pay huge amounts.
