I am no expert in photography nor am I claiming to be one. Being a newbie on photography, I've researched among my friends offline and online on what would probably be the best travel accessories.
My family loves to travel and of course, in this era of DSLRs, it's a must have! My younger brother got one 2 years back while my first one was just purchased a month ago and I am still struggling to get "acceptable" photos. My brother bought the Canon 400d while I got a Nikon D90. I know most of you would probably say that I should have gotten a Canon rather than a Nikon so we could share lenses but, I decided to go for the Nikon anyway.
Back on topic, when travelling, these are the following must-haves: 1. Extra battery - Obvious reasons, I guess. (I bought mine in Pixel Pro)
2. Extra memory card - Unless you have a portable hard drive where you can dump your photos (like this gadget given to me 2 years ago.) It would be much better to have extra memory cards.
3. External Flash - Although this requires lighting skills, it's still included in the must-haves for night / low-light photography.
4. All around lens - There are a lot of all-around lenses but the best one I know of is the 24-70 f2.8 (Kit lens like 18-105 are also "ok". For my last trip, I used 50mm f1.8 prime lens and it was very challenging!) I like the 50mm because it is lightweight but, photos will be very hard to take using that lens. 5. Lens hood - For instance, the kit lens of the Nikon D90 comes with a lens hood. Bring that for outdoor shooting!
6. Tripod/ Gorillapod - The latter would be easier to carry than the Tripod but, the use is pretty much the same. It now depends on what you would like to shoot. Also, I do not recommend buying the gorillapod in CDR-king because it is pretty useless.
I know it is very tempting to buy that because it costs only 380 pesos but, the quality and build would be compromised. The original Gorillapod for DSLRs costs around 2,500 pesos.

It was great for Pixel Pro Inc to sponsor a Photo session last March 21,2009!
Not only did I learn photography techniques, but, I also learned stuff from the new camera I bought.
I can't forget what Mr. Mike Mariano said to me that day...
"You should read the manual! This is a great camera!"
The truth is, I just bought my Nikon D90 from them a few weeks back before the actual seminar. I had a good deal and I must say that I am very happy with the service they gave me. That day, I even bought an extra battery (el-3ne?) for my cam!
The techniques taught were basic but without knowing them, I am sure that your foundation would be not good.
Mr. Mike Mariano, a professional photographer and a professor in my alma mater, DLS-CSB, was the instructor for the day. He was really good!
I was there with several bloggers and there was a raffle at the end. Who would have thought I would win a Canon Selphy printer from Pixel Pro?? I won!!!!!!!!
Also, congratulations to letsgosago for winning the grand prize - A canon digital camera!!!
More information about the lessons to follow.
Thank you again Pixel Pro for that very interesting photography bloggers event!

Tonight, I am going to make my very own drybox! (or buy it one part at a time!)
If you have your own digital SLR and some lenses, you would think of ways to protect your investment. Where will you put your gadgets then?
Since I have no budget for those drybox with dehumidifiers, I opted to make my own drybox!
1) I bought a HPL500 locknlock airtight container for 549.75 pesos (roughly 11.31 US dollars) 2) I am going to buy Silica Gel later. Silica gel can adsorb about 40 percent of its weight in moisture and can take the relative humidity in a closed container down to about 40 percent. Once saturated, you can drive the moisture off and reuse silica gel by heating it above 300 degrees F (150 C).
A professor at IIM was explaining marketing concepts:
1. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and say:
"I am very rich. Marry me!" - That's Direct Marketing
2. You're at a party with a bunch of friends and see a gorgeous girl.
One of your friends goes up to her and pointing at you says:
"He's very rich. Marry him." - That's Advertising.
3. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and get her telephone number. The next day,you call and say: "Hi, I'm very rich. Marry me." - That's Telemarketing. 4. You're at a party and see a gorgeous girl. You get up and straighten your tie; you walk up to her and pour her a drink, you open the door (of the car) for her, pick up her bag after she drops it, offer her a ride and then say: "By the way, I'm rich. Will you marry me?" - That's Public Relations
5. You're at a party and see a gorgeous girl. She walks up to you and says: "You are very rich! Can you marry me?" - That's Brand Recognition. .
6. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and say: "I am very rich. Marry me!" She gives you a nice hard slap on your face. - That's Customer Feedback.
7. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and say: "I am very rich. Marry me!" And she introduces you to her husband. - That's demand and supply gap.
8. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and before you say anything, another person comes and tells her: "I'm rich. Will you marry me?" And she goes with him - That's competition eating into your market share.
9. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and before you say: "I'm rich Marry me!' your wife arrives. - That's restriction for entering new markets..
ha ha ha!!!!....so which one do you think fits you????
Be sure you are ready for the summer! Don't let a moment skip without treasuring a part of it!
A week or two ago, I attended the Sony Summer Gear 2009 launch and boy, did I make the right decision going there!
Ever since 2009 started, I wanted to buy an iPod Touch badly to satisfy my movie watching habit. I ended up deciding to buy an iPhone which, ended up to not buying any because I felt guilty spending money.
There are also several other reasons on why I didn't want to purchase those.
To make the story shorter, the launching of the Sony products helped me decide what to get!
This guy here below is what I plan to get VERY SOON!
The touchscreen X-Series PMP will be available in two capacities – 16GB and 32GB. What really has me worried is the pricing which is – Rs. 15, 378 ($308) and Rs. 20, 321 ($407) respectively.
Just to recap, some of the X-Series’ features include -
3-Inch OLED, 16:9, touchscreen
DSEE (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine)
Wi-FI capabilities for YouTube connectivity and downloading Podcasts
A Web Browser
Flick control for viewing images
Anyway, as soon as I see the walkman X in Sony stores, I would purchase that ASAP (as long as my bank account approves of it, of course!)
Other Sony Summer Gears launched that day are (don't blame me if you'd be tempted to spend on these must haves!):
