Are You a Smart Driver?

For the past few years where fuel prices have continuously and uncontrollably skyrocketed, the only thing we CAN control is our driving habit.

Here are some fuel saving tips that I myself had been personally practicing:
- Don't wait for the engine to exert effort. Know the right time to shift.
- Tire pressure must constantly be checked.
- Don't speed up in the metro. You'll be wasting 2 things. 1, Gas. 2, breaks.

In lieu with that, Pilipinas Shell has an on-going campaign promoting fuel efficiency. They are in search for the country's smartest drivers.

Philippines smartest driver

If you like to join the campaign, just log on to www.topgear.com.ph/shellsmartestdrivers. Everyone with a valid driver's license can join. Just shoot a short video clip on how to minimize your fuel consumption and close it by completing the catch phrase, “Ang Pinoy na matipid sa gasolina, ____________.”

This is a great campaign! A win-win situation as EVERYONE who join gets a premium item from Shell! Not only that, the ten finalists will be awarded 10,000 pesos worth of Shell fuel vouchers AND will be invited to a fuel economy boot camp on June 26, 2010. They will be joining a driving challenge and the top 2 most fuel efficient finalists will be hailed as the Philippines' smartest driver!

The 2 winners will then go to Malaysia on July 8 to 11, 2010 and join other teams from Mapua, Don Bosco, UST and participate in the FIRST ever Shell Eco-Marathon in Asia. The teams will compete with teams from other countries and the most efficient driver would win a fuel efficient car!

But you know what? The best part here is you, imparting your fuel efficiency knowledge to other drivers thus helping make the environment a better place to live in!
