What's the Right Running Shoes for You?

Lately, I'm into running. It's not because of the running fad. It's just that I'm trying my best to be fit and healthy. I look healthy on the outside but inside, I'm not too sure, because I get tired easily. As of the moment, I can only run around 2.2kms. *hides*

My first problem was my aching knee. Running-mates attributed it to my using of the wrong pair of shoes. Well, I used my Dunlop badminton rubber shoes. I don't want to buy a new pair because it's not part of my priority as of the moment. Then, I decided to try another pair of shoes. Last December 2009, I bought a pair of Oakley trekking shoes which I have just used twice. Tried using it for running and it just got worst. Now, I have an aching knee plus a blistered feet because of the trekking shoe. Of course, a badminton shoe would be good for badminton and a trekking shoe would be good for trekking. There's a reason why they are called badminton shoes and trekking shoes.

Problem is, stingy people like me have a hard time spending money. We all have budgets. When it comes to gadgets, I'm willing to spend. When it comes to car accessories, I'm willing to spend. That made me re-evaluate my spending habit. Why don't I invest on something for my health so I can enjoy those other investments longer?

Well, someone convinced me to buy a pair. We went to Adidas Greenbelt and traded in an old pair of rubber shoes. Then, the sales attendant checked out my feet arch and my running style using a system they have in the Adidas store and gave me advice, on the spot. He then pointed me to a section specifically for the low arch.

Wow, I was shocked at the prices!!! 4,500 pesos to 5,500 pesos (never ever did I buy a pair of shoe this expensive)!!! Also, the colors I like wasn't available. Only dull colors were available and chose the lesser evil. I picked this shoe then...

My First Pair of Running Shoes - Adidas Adizero Tempo

Presenting the ultimate lightweight stability running shoe. The adidas adiZERO™ Tempo is the lightest running shoe in its class, with ground-adapting FORMOTION™ and TORSION® SYSTEM for response. Pure and simple in appearance and function, it gives you everything you need, with nothing you don't.

List price for this was around 5,400 pesos. Deducting the 1,000 pesos for the old pair of shoes we traded in, It was now reduced to 4,400.00. I just thought of it as an investment and a motivation for me to run so I will be able to use this often and not let this pair grow molds in my shoe cabinet.

It's really soft and comfortable! Running shoes should have a mesh screen in front so air could flow in so your feet won't overheat.

Mesh Screen Front for Increased Air Flow

The nice curve in front made running easier. Once I tilt my foot forward, the curve in front makes it easier to step forth and back. (Back and forth if you're running backwards? haha)

Slightly Curved Front Helps Me Tilt Forward

Cushioning is also important as this absorbs the shock you will get. This is rather more important when running on hard surfaces like cement or concrete.

Well, I was thinking of buying the Adidas Mi Coach but it was Php 2,500 so never mind! (There might be sponsors out there for me to test it? haha!) I looked for an alternative.
