6 Must Order Dishes in Bulgogi Brothers; Mall of Asia (Newest Branch)

It's been almost a year since I last blogged about Bulgogi Brothers. Their first branch was in Greenbelt Makati which opened last September 2011. To date, Bulgogi Brothers Mall of Asia is their third branch. A fourth branch will open soon in Harbor Point Mall in Subic. Here's my first review of Bulgogi Brothers last year when it opened here in the Philippines.

When asked by family or friends for Korean food recommendation, I always recommend Bulgogi Brothers because it has been my favorite ever since I first tried it. I don't even visit the others twice anymore and I've been trying other Korean restaurants around the metro. Today, when I visited their SM Mall of Asia branch a day before the grand opening, we ordered all our favorites! If you haven't tried that restaurant yet and it will be your first time soon, here are some of the dishes that you MUST order:

1) Appetizer | Php 0.00 Complimentary
Everyone, don't miss the sweet potato and the corn. For spicy food lovers, the salad and the Kimchi should definitely be tried. And by the way, they don't say "cheese" here when taking photographs. Instead, they say "Kimchi"! In Korea, they love Kimchi so much that an average person consumes 40 pounds of it each year! Don't worry, not all those will add up to your weight. In fact, Kimchi is considered to be one of the healthiest fermented foods in the planet. See? No need to worry. This will balance out your meal because BB's meats are not to be missed!

2) Kkotdeungsim Gui | Php 995.00 per pc (200 grams)
[Menu Description: Tender, flavorful & perfectly marbled meat. Best ordered with Baekseju]
That is not a typo error. It's really spelled with a "double K" at the beginning and this dish will definitely make you reply "K" to your text mates if they are disturbing you in the middle of your meal as you would want to immediately go back to eating! Having tried Melo's a couple of times already and ordering their best meats, this is at par, if not better than their most expensive choice beef. Kkotdeungsim Gui is more famously known as Rib-eye steak! This is more tender than the Unyang Style Bulgogi (#3).

3) Un-yang Style Bulgogi | Php 595.00 (6 pcs) ; Php 995.00 (12 pcs)
[Menu Description: A famous royal cuisine. Best ordered with Maechousun]
Want a better bang for your buck? If you aren't after for the most tender meat out there like the Kkotdeungsim Gui (#2), this is the one that you shouldn't leave Bulgogi Brothers without trying. I am not kidding. I go back to Bulgogi Brothers for this heart shaped beefy goodness. If you would ask me what one dish I would recommend? This is the one. Order white rice with it and you're good to go. If you want to try Korea's signature rice, Bibimbap (#4) is the way to go.

4) Bulgogi Bibimbap | Php 395.00
[Menu Description: A traditional Korean favorite. Great combination of bulgogi, various vegetables, and rice. Nutritious and delicious. Best ordered with Chungha.]
Bored with white rice? Bibimbap was first mentioned in an anonymous 19th century cookbook. Well, Bibimbap is said to be the royal court dish of the Joseon dynasty.  It literally means "mixed meal" or "mixed rice". Here in Bulgogi Brothers, you don't need to be a royalty to get one. It's been the favorite of many since the early 19th century. In fact, it was even listed as the 40th (over 50) most delicious food by the reader's poll conducted by CNN Go last 2011.

5) Dubu Steak | Php 245.00 (6 pcs) ; Php 395.00 (8 pcs)
[Menu Description: Fried crispy dubu(tofu) with teriyaki sauce and bean sprout. Best ordered with Bokbunja Bohae.]
This is actually the first time I have tried this. Honestly, the best tofu dish I have ever tasted is the one from Coral Garden. This Dubu steak seconds it. The sauce matches perfectly with the tofu topped with bean sprouts and beef. Also a good dish to pair with rice. This dish is best eaten when hot/warm and this is the reason why they serve it with a burner underneath it. The tofu has crunchy skin and the bean sprouts is also a bit crunchy. Imagine chewing the 2 crunchy stuff and letting your teeth sink in the tender steak with it? Mouth-watering!

6) Sogogi Japchae | Php 350.00
[Menu Description: A colorful dish made with glass noodles, beef, bell pepper and onions seasoned with soy sauce. Best ordered with Chungha.]
Japchae, jabchae, chapchae. Whatever spelling or name you want to call it, this is a dish we order everytime we visit Bulgogi Brothers! This is the best Japchae I have ever eaten. Literally translated, it means "mixed vegetables." It was first made in Joseon dynasty (man, the people in the Joseon dysnasty sure knows how to enjoy eating!) Do you know that the man who created this dish during that dysnasty was promoted to the equivalent of "Secretary of the Treasury" because the king liked the dish so much!

All the above I've written not more than 5 hours after my meal! Everything is still so fresh and real! It's really weird that my stomach says I'm full but my mind is craving for it! After your meal, they will offer you some cool desserts!

On another note, one of the best branches for me so far is the one in SM Mall of Asia. I love the ambiance best there. You can also choose to dine Al Fresco with candle light while looking out to the bay.

Here are some of the photos taken earlier from the Bulgogi Brothers SM Mall of Asia branch:
