Duty Free Shopping in Subic Bay

I'm still having a post-getaway hangover from our recent Subic trip. We stayed at the superb Lighthouse Marina Resort and had a wonderful overall trip in Subic. In fact, driving to Subic isn't as stressful and long as I remember it to be. It only took us around 2 hours from Manila to Subic via SCTEx without traffic.

ImmortalTXT from Globe

Just last Saturday, we were introduced to Globe's newest offering. Globe Immortaltxt.

how to register to immortaltxt globe

For just 10 pesos, you get 50 SMS Globe to Globe and 10 SMS to other networks. You know what's even greater???? No EXPIRATION date!!! In your face NTC! kidding. hehe.

Actually, I think NTC pushed telcos to improve their services and I think we should give NTC some credit for these telco offerings.

As I am typing this, I just texted "Immortal10" to 8888 to try out their service.

The reply was,

immortaltxt 10 to 8888

...followed by another SMS

Globe immortaltxt10
pardon the blurry photos. My trusty cellphone doesn't have macro mode nor auto-focus :)

Anyway, as I was saying, this is such a great offer from Globe, I can't help but praise them for it despite my many bad experiences with their Globe Visibility/ Globe Tattoo AND Globe Broadband services. To tell you the truth, my Globe Broadband 3mbps subscription has been down more than a week already and sadly, Globe hasn't made any action. (If you are from globe, do get in touch with me at chef_tonio@yahoo.com)

The launching event was a blast! Unsuspecting bloggers (yes, that includes me.) went to the Ayala Museum Cafe in Greenbelt. I arrived 1pm as stated in the invite. Kel and Yogajane was already there. :)

The tissue there since I forgot to take photos of the place. Great piece of paper! LOL.

Suddenly, there were around 5 to 6 big bad bikes that arrived. I was told boy-kuripot jokingly that we would be riding those bikes! After awhile, I discovered that some of us was really going to ride those bikes... to another venue!!!

Big bikes has arrived!

globe van convoy
Then, a convoy of vans arrived. All with Globe logos posted.

Earlier, I was asking some of the organizers (my friends na yun ha!) about what the event was and what activities can we expect. They kept mum and I glad they did because the surprise was, M-cafe wasn't the real venue! We were tricked!!! hehe. Nice gimmick!

globe convoy going to handlebar
After the announcement, big bikes lead us and served as our "escorts" to the next venue.

Being the observant(or chismoso) me, after riding in the van, I saw this piece of paper which revealed to me the location of our next destination. :P But of course, I didn't reveal it to anyone. I just texted my GF where we were going(she wasn't there naman so, I didn't spoil the surprise). hahaha!

After arriving at Handlebar (somewhere near Rockwell and Jupiter st.), we drank iced tea (again) and ate some snack while some bands were playing.

It was a gimmick night in the afternoon. hehe.

Glad to see some of my friend bloggers there. :)

They announced this new service they are offering. It's called Youniverse. It's like Chat TV but, this LCD will be displyed in malls. You can send MMS and SMS and your Text or Photos sent there will be displayed at the board. Cool, huh? :)

lauren dado tattoo globe mini note
A dare was then announced and she was the brave girl who accepted the dare. The dare? Get a permanent tattoo and you get a HP Mini-note netbook. Not bad! Only, I wouldn't do that for a laptop. Maybe a Honda CR-V or Subaru Forester would get me thinking twice of accepting the offer.

I <3 Subaru Forester :)

Globe's Immortaltxt rocks!!!

Just text "immortaltxt10" and send it to 8888

Cory Aquino -The Trip From La Salle Greenhills to Ayala to Manila Cathedral

http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/5782/edsarevolutionpic1.jpg
Although I wasn't born yet when Ninoy Aquino was assassinated, several news anchors mentioned earlier that it was a replay of the events that happened 26 years back.

Taken using my Sony Ericsson T700 c/o Chuvaness
I went to the office on my usual time but as soon as I heard the convoy leaving La Salle Greenhills, I immediately went home so I could watch and take part (in my own ways) in this historical event.

From La Salle Greenhills to Ayala Avenue
Although today is not yet the burial day of Her Excellency, a lot of people was moved and touch in a way fellow Filipinos and foreigners paid respect to past president Corazon Aquino.

The travel time from LSGH to Makati wasn't so bad. The convoyed slowed down big time upon arriving Buendia/Ayala area because nearly 25,000 people paid respect to Cory Aquino. Office workers, CEOs, white or blue collar workers, nearby residents and Filipinos of all classes joined as Cory passed through the Ninoy Aquino Statue.

Current Updates
2:40pm, the funeral convoy just passed SSH-Quirino Ave. People standing there were waiting for several hours already according to Alex Santos. Everyone is cheering "Cory! Cory! Cory!" and waving the "L" sign that symbolizes Cory Aquino and the "L" sign means, Laban (Fight)!
http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/2972/dsc00179jss.jpg
In around an hour or 2, the convoy would be arriving Manila Cathedral and public viewing is scheduled and was supposed to start around 4pm (August 03,2009).

Information about Cory's Funeral
On Wednesday, there would be a 9am mass before escorting her excellency to her final resting place.

Also, someone from the Aquino family requested the public that not all follow them until Manila Memorial because of the limited capacity of the said place where president Cory will be placed.

Paying respect in many ways
There are many ways to pay respect if you can't pay her a visit. You can pray for her, pray for our country and pray for her relatives. Attach yellow ribbons in your cars, office windows or your gates at home.

1 yard of yellow ribbon costs around 4 pesos. I bought mine yesterday and I don't think it's that expensive.

To oust or not to oust? That is not the question.

There is this saying that says, "As you sow so shall you reap"

Meaning,
Your deeds, good or bad, will repay you in kind.

Origin,
From the Bible, Galatians VI (King James Version):

Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

The president before GMA, Erap Estrada, was impeached because of plunder. Someone has to take over. The Vice President did. That is a default. People did not put you into place. The law did. You were only placed and voted as the vice president of the Philippines.

So, is this what you are reaping now? This is my principle. Do nothing bad and you are not afraid of the truth. I am not saying here that GMA did something bad. I am also not taking sides because if you ask me, I don't like sides. I just like analyzing.

This article came out this morning.

An archbishop critical of the Arroyo administration said various sectors of society have reservations about Vice President Noli de Castro's ability to lead the country.

"Marami po sa nakausap namin meron silang reservation sa kakayahan ni Ginoong de Castro. Hindi po sa akin nanggaling kundi sinasabi lang sa akin at hindi lang naman po isa lang ang nagsabi noon (Majority of the people that we consulted said they have reservations about Mr. de Castro's capability. It did not come from me and not only one person said it)," Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Oscar Cruz told ABS-CBN's morning show "Umagang Kay Ganda."

They also don't like VP Noli De Castro to be the President if ever they impeach GMA. THINK! You are impeaching GMA, you don't want VP Noli. What will happen if ever she did step down!? Noli will be the default. Then you will impeach VP Noli again. What will happen to the Philippines? If we are currently this way that we have a leader, what more if we don't?

As I was saying to everyone, "You know, if you are an American Citizen, Philippines is a good place to retire. First, you get your pension so the Philippine Economy won't affect you. Second, with all these political happenings and events, it will make your life more lively and active!"

I've said this because I've seen foreigners living around exclusive subdivisions in Makati city joining the Rally in Ayala.

So, you are deciding on where in the world would you like to retire and be happy, you know the answer.
