THE group of Sen. Antonio Trillanes 4th apologized for walking out of a court hearing on November 29 that was a prelude to a failed rebellion that involved the takeover of a five-star hotel.

“They informed the court that they have the highest respect for the court, and that they did not mean to disrespect it,” defense lawyer Reynaldo Robles told reporters, referring to Branch 148 of the Makati Regional Trial Court presided by Judge Oscar Pimentel. Journalists were barred from the court proceedings.

Robles said Pimentel accepted the apologies but warned the accused that in the future such actions would be severely dealt with.

Contrition, it seemed, was not enough for President Gloria Arroyo.
