Car jackers picked the right car at the wrong time.

This is a real story...

Three armed men carjacked the sports utility vehicle of former Quezon City councilor Rommel "Abe" Abesamis past midnight Wednesday in Quezon City. The carjackers, however, left the vehicle behind when it ran out of gas.

ABS-CBN News correspondent Doland Castro said Abesamis’s black Ford Expedition with special plate number ABE 03 was taken near Quezon Avenue.

The initial report said the vehicle's gas tank was almost empty when his driver parked it on a dimly-lit portion of Agham Road.

The former councilor said he then boarded a taxi to buy gas himself. He left the vehicle with his driver.

The suspects wearing balaclavas arrived on board a Mazda 3 car and poked a gun at driver Rey Villonio who was standing outside the sport utility vehicle.

They then took the SUV.

But since the Expedition was almost out of gasoline, the suspects failed to travel far and decided to abandon the vehicle near the corner of Quezon Avenue and EDSA.

How stupid can those car-jackers be?
