Extortion in the baclaran blaze, transferred to volunteers.

The issue is getting bigger. More people are hiding and saving their ass at the same time blaming others.

MANILA, Philippines -- Two Filipino-Chinese volunteer firefighting groups strongly denied on Monday morning allegations of extortion by their members during the January 3 fire that hit a shopping mall in Baclaran.

Fire Marshall Johnny Yu said the groups were well funded by the Filipino-Chinese community, especially the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industries Inc. (FFCCCII).

Two female workers at a stall of the gutted Baclaran Galleria shopping mall came forward during the press conference to say that a firefighter clad in navy blue had refused to open their stall even he had been given the key.

Yu said the unidentified firefighter should have opened the door to the stall because he already had the authority to do so. BFP firefighters wear blue while volunteer groups wear orange gear.

Volunteers are really well funded and they work without pay in other words, for FREE and VOLUNTARILY.

As all people can see, the evidence that those groups are well-funded can be seen in the trucks they are driving, the equipments and the man power present in those situations.

They work for free because, it is their hobby or they just want to help. Nobody joins those group to earn money. You know why? to be a volunteer fire fighter, you need to pay yearly dues! Imagine, working without pay and paying to work/help. this is the complete opposite of government fire fighters where they get paid to do their job.

Government lacks Fire equipments. Only very few has complete lineup of equipments. Government uses peoples taxes but Volunteers use group funds contributed by the members and sponsors.

Are they just envious or just plain angry because they cannot execute their "SOP" properly?
