A law must be applied to ALL or no one at ALL.
I don't know who said that but I know that. In the Philippines, there are double standards or multiple standards? Its like, "What you did was violating blah-blah-blah, I can arrest you for violation of blah-blah. Unless..." Here, if you have power, money and fame, you can almost get away with everything!
(In ABS-CBN, there is a show called "Noy-pi". I suggest that they use stars or well-known personalities, politicians and see if a they can get away with a "framed" traffic violation. I bet the arresting officer will even ask for an autograph.)
In other situations, we have the double standards. Example. Yellow Lane in EDSA (highway). The yellow lane is for PUB (Bus). If a private motorist drives in the Yellow Lane, he will be flagged down. What happens if a Bus goes out of the Yellow Lane? nothing!
Another sample. Jeep drivers. Traffic "ENFORCERS" dont apprehend them. Why? They wont get anything from them! Unlike private motorist who has the capability to "PAY BRIBE", those Jeep drivers doesn't. If they can pay, they can't pay like privates.
THIS IS HOW TO IMPLEMENT THE LAW.
THE LAW APPLIES TO ALL OR NO ONE AT ALL.
Example:
Report from REUTERS
Actor Kiefer Sutherland was released on Monday from a Southern California jail, where he served 48 days for drunken driving and violating probation.
The 41-year-old actor left the Glendale City Jail shortly after midnight and was a model inmate, Glendale Police Officer John Balian said.
"He never gave us any problems, never complained about anything," Balian said, adding that Sutherland spent most of his time on laundry duty.
The star of the hit TV series "24" was arrested for drunken driving in September, while still on probation for a 2004 drunken-driving conviction.
He pleaded no contest in a deal with prosecutors that allowed him to serve his sentence without disrupting the show.
He must also serve five years probation, complete an 18-month alcohol education program and attend six months of weekly therapy sessions.
Sutherland, son of screen star Donald Sutherland, won an Emmy Award last year for starring as the terrorist-fighting secret agent Jack Bauer.
The show averaged 13.5 million viewers last year and returns this month for its seventh season on Fox.
Now, that is a role model.
