I set an alarm this morning just so I won't forget the release of the Symbian Belle today. I immediately checked Nokia if the update will be really up today so earlier, I tried updating my Nokia N8 over-the-air. Thing is, it didn't detect the new updates. I decided to download the latest Nokia Ovi Suite 3.3.86. (Click here to download) or if you have installed the Nokia Suite, you can just update your existing Nokia Ovi Suite.
Symbian Belle is Nokia's newest OS update for existing mobile phones like (Compatible with) Nokia N8, C6, C7, E6, E7, X7 and Nokia 500. It will come as the default OS for the upcoming Nokia 700 and Nokia 701.
Updating to Symbian Belle is very easy. To take you through the process, I took some screenshots to guide you in updating.
Note: Make sure your phone is fully charged and your laptop has full battery/ PC has UPS in case of power outages to prevent complications. Prevention is always better than cure. Also make sure that you back-up every thing you don't want deleted just to be sure.
After downloading the Nokia Suite, install it then connect your Nokia phone via USB
Look for your unit then click next
You'll be redirected to the "Home" section of the Nokia Suite. Click on "Update phone software"
Read the warning. Back-up everything as instructed. After, tick the check box and press continue.
Log-In using your credentials. If like me, you forgot your username/password, just create a new one by clicking the "Not yet registered".
Wait for a bit. The duration of this download will depend on how fast your internet connection is.
System will now back up your N8. Stuff from the memory card like photos and videos won't be deleted.
...just wait some more...
Nokia suite is now restoring some of your data.
and it's done!!! I'm sure you'll be as excited as me to see the new Symbian Belle in your phone.
After the update, Nokia Suite was attempting to install a "Support software". It failed to install and I didn't attempt to install it again because I don't think it matters.
Took me around 35 minutes to do all these. Worth it! My N8 sporting the latest Symbian Belle OS!
So far, It's smoother and the UI is better. I like the drop down notification window feature (Same as Android).

Hi. Did you notice that the N8 became a bit slow after the Belle update? I think Anna is snappier than Belle.
What you think?
@Jiezel,
Nope. Mine became faster :) Might be case to case basis but you might also have to check your free storage space available. Like any computers, if it's full, it's slower.
Other than that, I'm not sure why. :)
Try the camera, it feels snappier also! (No pun intended).
