Jabra Wireless Earbuds Honest review — WARNING!

It’s been a while since I blogged because honestly, I stopped blogging already. BUT, this incident deserves an entry!

Last July 2021, I bought 2 Jabra Elite Active 65T s earbuds. Bought both units brand new! One is copper black and another is copper blue. Since I was using another set of wireless earbuds, I first kept it.

A few months after, I decides to use the Jabra. It was still sealed so I opened it. Opened the copper black first. Lo and behold! It is not switching on! The charging case was working because it has lights. Used the computer to charge it as instructed. The earbuds is not responding at all.

Did everything as instructed. Fully charged it, did reset etc but the earbuds was not responding at all. No lights or anything! Did some research and found that a lot of similar incidents occured.

I thought it was just a coincidence so I opened my copper blue pair! Lucky me? 2 of 2 brand new Jabra earbuds not working!!!

Maybe if I bought 3, it would be 3 of 3 not working! What kind of quality control does Jabra have? Brand new units not working!  Such a waste of money.

Here’s the “best” part:
Jabra online support is inexistent. They will not change it or act on your issue. You are on your own. They are asking me to return it to a US address but I am now in the Philippines!

They want me to send it over to US or Europe and pay postage of $70 usd. That is as good as buying a new pair! They are out of their minds!

If you’re Jabra Elite Active 65t is not working and you have a fix or work around, do tell me because right now, this item is as good as trash. Their products are so trashy I needed to write a blog about it.

Don’t even think of saying “why didn’t I approach the Jabra Philippines distributor?”. I did. Same as their mother company, they are not helpful at all.

In one sentence, if you buy Jabra and you get lucky, you are on your own.   Stay away from Jabra products!

Top 5 Must-Have Car Accessories to Theft-Proof Your Car

Living in Metro Manila has perks. It has almost everything you need and more when comparing it to the countryside. But then again, when I say "more", I mean, even those you don't need like theft, is prevalent because of the higher cost of living. Of course, this is not justifying criminal activity but rather, a truth in our everyday life.

3 Nostalgic Games That Brings You Back to the Past (and where to download them)

Being born in the 80's, we passed through the times when computers were just being commercialized. Not everyone had a computer at home but during the 90's, things changed. The "green screen" filled with codes and fonts slowly became colored with user interface. Games went from words to pixels and now, super duper HHHD graphics! I can't believe that nowadays, my cousin recommended that when I get a monitor, I should be looking for ~1MS response rate and this high resolution etc. This is gaming now.

How to Jump Start your Popularity to Youtube Stardom?

Filipinos are very creative. The only limit is when we reach the death of our imagination. Nowadays, the younger generation are more outspoken and expressive in their own art and culture. It can be bad but it can be good if put to use creatively. Before, the only way to be famous is to be an actor/ actress. Because of internet, the playing field now is leveled. There are now famous personalities that we would've never knew if the internet, specially YouTube is inexistent. So, how?

After discussing about the very basics of cruising here, let me share with you some basic must know before going on a cruise and let me include some tips as well. I'm no expert in cruising but I've taken several already to make me know what to tell others what to do, what to bring, what not to bring etc.

Note: Most cruise references mentioned here are from cruising with Royal Caribbean. It might be a slightly different experience when cruising with Princess, Costa or other cruise lines.

A Primer on Cruising: Cruising 101 (Part 1)

I've been away for a long time to take a break from the hustle and bustle but I am back! I've been on vacation recently and we've taken a cruise around Asia. This is not the first cruise we've taken because over the 10 months, we've taken 3 cruises and that is a testament to it. Believe me, it can be addicting. As with any other activities, it is not for everyone as well.

I'm here to share with you the the joy of cruising and some basics as to what to expect when taking your first cruise. I'm so happy when people ask me, whether friends or family or blog readers about cruising. I love sharing it to them even though sometimes, I already act as their company representative. I have friends and family who had booked their own cruises after seeing my posts in my Facebook page.

Started in 2012, Gamdias has been making quality gaming peripherals that are not as expensive as other competing brands so they remain very competitive in terms of pricing. In fact, they have slowly become part of the top 5 in terms of sales.

All Things Starwars in Hong Kong Disneyland

Darth Vader and Storm Troopers Eggs
Just came back from Hong Kong Disneyland last week and the geek in me was so happy! There were already a lot of Starwars merchandise and guess what? This June, they will be turning the Space Mountain to a Starwars themed ride!!! I am so going back! It was just a bit sad for me because I wasn't able to ride Space Mountain on my visit last week. Anyway, I did ride the Grizzly Gulch ride twice without waiting in line. There weren't a lot of people when I visited the park.

Quick Review of the Fuji X-T10 (with Sample Photos)

It was a long wait. I wanted to upgrade my camera to a smaller one coming from a Nikon DSLR which I've used since 2009. It was a great camera and looking at the photos I took using it, I somewhat already miss it. But one must let go of things and so, after months of research, I decided to get a Fuji X-T10.

A week ago, I was in Hong Kong in search for one. It was not easy to buy one because it was either too expensive or it was not in stock. Let me give you a trick. If you are going to Hong Kong to buy a gadget, try this. Search for your item and end your search with "price hk". Your search will most probably return sites from the domain price.hk. Yes, I use that to canvass and check prices in Hong Kong. It is pretty accurate! (In search for a X-T10 as well? Try it. Click this link.)

Upon opening the site, you'll see a location pin. Click that and you'll see the store and the respective price of the item you are looking for. That's it! Technology has made canvassing easier!

Going back to the camera, coming from a Nikon DSLR, I admit it was not easy at all. Throughout the my trip in Hong Kong, I was in "Auto" mode. I had no choice because the settings adjustment were not the same with what I was used to. I know the basics like white balance, ISO, shutter speed etc etc. But I'm still having a hard time using it. I was using my D90 like a pro before having been able to use full manual. I guess it will take time and a lot of reading to be able to control the camera in full manual mode.

Using it in "auto" mode, it did return really nice shots. Check out some of the photos from the XT10:

I will be posting more photos and a separate entry about what's new in Hong Kong Disneyland. Me and my wife got an annual pass already and we are excited to go back this June!

A separate full review of the X-T10 will also be posted soon.

Smart Deploys First Working LTE-A (4.5G) Internet in the Philippines

Smart officially started to roll out the country's first working LTE-A 4.5G network connection. The introduction of this service will soon let Filipinos experience super high-speed internet service. I'm also happy to let you know that we averaged roughly 200Mbps on tests done using the speedtest app. This is not something that even my home DSL or cable internet is capable of. This really is the next wave!

Are Gadgets as Bad as We Think for our Kids?

Before I gave birth, I promised myself that I will not let my child play with gadgets of any kind until he was older. Well, if you become a parent, and when your child starts to explore, you will definitely find it hard not to let him play with you iPad and other gadgets. Children nowadays (as young as a year and a half) would be able to explore your gadget and you'd be surprised that he already knows how to look for YouTube and exit applications from your phone.

We tried to delay my son in playing with iPad, but there are just these instances when he is too fuzzy and nothing (aside from watching his Elmo show) could stop him from crying. At a year and 7 months, we decided to give him access to our iPad but of course, under our supervision and with limited use.

Aside from attending Kindermusik classes during Saturdays, there's really not much activity that we do at home aside from playing, reading simple books and watching Sesame Street and other learning shows in YouTube.
ABC Elmo that we have installed in our iPad

While we were eating breakfast last week though, I noticed that he was staring at the clock and started pronouncing the numbers that he could see. To tell you the truth, I never taught him to count and I'm pretty sure he got it from one of his iPad videos. At 1.9 months, I think he did well to be able to recognize and count from 1-10.

Im not saying that we should allow our children to play and use iPads early, but with proper guidance, these gadgets do help is in our child's learning.

Here is a few things we do when we let our son access iPad.
  1. No gadgets during meals - this includes us adults as well. To be fair, we always make sure that we don't use gadgets too so we are able to bond and socialize during this time.
  2. iPad as a learning tool - we make sure that the contents of the iPad are for learning and not for playing games.
  3. No iPads when we go out - we only use it at home and we make sure that whenever we go out, he is able to explore the places that we go to and interact with people we meet. This also holds true when we go on vacations, we make sure sure that we get to bond with each other and not with our gadgets.
  4. Parents should set good examples - this is the most effective way to teach our children in every single aspect. We should not set double-standards and not make yourself an exception when it comes to teaching our children.
Share with us how you deal with your children and their gadgets, we would love to learn from you.
