Comelec chairman order recanvass

Comelec decided to set aside COC's from Maguindanao after failing to submit and present all election related documents. This developed as four teachers appeared and retold how they were practically kidnapped and forced to fill up ballots.

They were accompanied by Sen. Panfilo Lacson who said that he will file a petition to declare a failure of election in Maguindanao.

However, Chairman Benjamin Abalos Sr. said the Comelec is not likely to declare a failure of elections in the province as this will disfranchise the voters in the area. Instead, a new provincial board of canvassers would be convened to replace the existing board headed by lawyer Lintang Bedol.

The members of Maguindanaos municipal board of canvassers failed to appear yesterday before the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC).
