Helms iTooth 2 Bluetooth Headset Review

We've been flooded by a lot of gadgets and it's so hard to screen which one are wants and which ones are those you can really use. Sometimes, it's when you get to try it that you get to really appreciate it. This is the case of the Helms iTooth 2 bluetooth headset.

Although it might look like an ordinary headset, it has some hidden high-tech features, very functional, comfortable and the sound quality is exceptional!


Unlike other bluetooth devices, this one is very easy to operate. My main issue with other bluetooth devices is the pairing part. It's so hard to pair a gadget to a bluetooth enabled device since you have to reset the bluetooth  in order to pair it to another gadget. With Helms iTooth 2, I was able to pair multiple gadgets and resetting was a breeze. Just click the power button (from off mode) until the indicator turns red-blue continuously. If you've tried operating one before, you'll know that the other bluetooth devices is not this easy to reset to prepare for pairing.

The volume control is high-tech. Since the headset has only 1 button, simply tap (not click) the upper portion of the only button in the headset (near the "+" symbol) to increase the volume. Likewise, tap the lower part of it to decrease the volume. The left and right portion are for previous track and next track. If you reach the max volume, you'll hear a subtle beep.

Charging the Helms iTooth 2 is the same with other devices. It comes with a 2.5mm cable and you can charge it via USB. I tried using a Nokia charger since the new Nokia phones utilizes the 2.5mm charger spec too but it won't fit. It would be cool though if it worked because you won't need to lug around an extra cable.

Since this is a headset, what matters most is the sound quality and the comfort. I'm glad to say that I am recommending this headset for those reasons more than the reasons I mentioned above.  For the sound quality, it has deep enough bass for watching movies, listening to music or playing games. I'm using my Helms iTooth 2 for my iPhone and iPad, but mostly for my iPad when I am watching movies. I truly enjoyed watching movies using it more than using earphones. Take note though that this is not a noise-cancelling headset so you'll hear a bit of noise, depending on the environment you are in.

Also, it really is comfortable! Although it looks like those headsets they provide when when riding airplanes in the early 20th century, this one is lightweight and foldable. Very easy to bring along. I leave this in my iPad bag so whenever I want to watch a movie and concentrate on it, I can watch wherever (while looking cool too!) You can extend the side portions of the headset depending on your comfort level.

Pros:
-Foldable and portable
-Comfortable
-Built-in mic for handsfree conversation
-Music/ Movie pauses whenever there is an incoming call
-Touch sensitive volume and track control

Cons:
-Built-in mic not working with Apple devices (or until Apple releases a new update, according to another site)
-Nokia charger won't fit
-Packaging is China-like

Conclusion:
As you can see, I can't say much about the cons of it and the Pros of the headset says it all. Functional, comfortable and handy. I think that sums up what a real bluetooth headset should be. *Waiting for Apple to release that update, fingers crossed*.
