Casio G-Shock GB6900 with Bluetooth Smart Technology

Early this year, Casio announced a new kind of G-Shock that caught my attention. A G-Shock that has Bluetooth functionality. By the title itself, you know that this will be a better G-Shock. A Smart G-Shock!

It is awesome in many ways and let me enumerate how it will very much compliment iPhone users. First and foremost, according to Casio, it is initially compatible with:
iPhone 5 (iOS 6.0)
iPhone 4S (iOS 6.0/iOS 5.1.1)
But I've read on different forums online that the G-Shock+ app is also available in the Android market.

5 main features of the G-Shock GB6900AA:
1) Incoming Call Alert
No need to get your phone out in meetings! When your phone gets an incoming call, your watch will alert you. You can mute the call by tapping the face of your watch twice.

2) Incoming Mail Alert
Similar with calls, it alerts you when you get a new mail. From the demo, I saw that the sender's name was also displayed in a scrolling way because of the limited screen size.

3) Out-of-range Warning
If you often leave your phone behind or when you accidentally drop it, the out-of-range warning feature keeps you aware that the distance between you and your phone is increasing. Very handy feature If I may say so.

4) Phone Finder
One-click and your phone will sound-off even when it is on silent mode! A good application for this feature is when you are riding the MRT. If someone gets your phone from your pocket and you weren't able to see who it was, one click and you'll be able to trace where your phone is.

5) Time Adjustment
It automatically syncs the time to the phone it is connected to so whenever you change timezone or daylight saving time, no need to adjust it on your watch.

Here's a demo of the features:

Other important features:
- Bluetooth V4.0
- Uses a lithium battery that can last for 2 years assuming you use if for 12 hours daily.
- If you play music, the title will display on your watch. In the near future, you will be able to control your music via your G-Shock.*
- When you leave your laptop, it automatically logs you out. When you go back to your desk, it automatically logs you in.*
*Future applications

One particular feature that is cool about this is the 2-year battery life. I've seen several smart watches around like the Sony live view. It's cool but the mere fact that I have to charge it almost daily is more of a hassle for me. The 2-year battery life is because of the Bluetooth 4.0 which utilizes low power near field communication. More features here: http://world.g-shock.com/us/en/ble/products/

I saw a red one not indicated in the Casio G-Shock official website:

According to Casio, SRP is $180. I'm pretty sure prices here in the Philippines would be much higher than that. I Want!!!
