WeChat just released their version 5.2 for both Android and iOS. What's new in this version?
Improved menu bar
Now more organized and developed to adapt to the habits of smartphone users, features are now comparmentalized into three sections -- chats, discover, and contacts. 'Chats' is where all your conversations are stored while the 'Discover' tab provides an easy access to your WeChat Moments (WeChat's social networking aspect) and other options like QR Code scanning, Shake, People Nearby, Drift Bottle, Games and Sticker Shop. 'Contacts' provide an easy shortcut to your contact list.
New Features:
Friend Radar
If you're attending an event or a conference, easily add other WeChat users within the vicinity using this function. This gives people the ease to network amongst each other eliminating the need to manually get each person's details in the process. Also, as an added feature in the contacts directory, you can now add various details in each contact like adding their business card, photos so you can easily remember them and etc.
Real-Time Location Sharing
You can now show your friends where you are! This is GPS tracking, the social networking way! You can also use the walkie-talkie feature without the need to get those handheld radios for 2-way communication as WeChat already provides this and more!
Universal Search
No more manually browsing each and every message in your conversation history. WeChat now provies easy searching by adding a universal search feature which can help you quickly find a message or contact by typing it in the seach field within the chats tab.
Other Improved Features
WeChat 5.2 also integrates Group Chat Photo album. Photos you shared via Group Chat are arranged by date for easy searching and stored in one location so you can easily find them. For the Sticker Shop, they now added more animated stickers, group chat mention notification, boosted audio and video quality and you can now add your LinkedIn account.
