Should you Upgrade to the iPhone 6 / iPhone 6 Plus?

Finally! The most awaited tech news of the year, at least for fanboys like me, has been announced! I don't have much comments about it except that this launch made Apple haters appear and sound off more. I admit that I wanted to change to Android several times already but ended up not doing so. My friends tell me that when they switched to Android, they never went back. The longest I've used an Android phone was 2-3 weeks -- whenever I was lent a review unit.

Here's are some of the basic differences of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus compared to the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C

Honestly, Apple's latest release is quite disappointing.  It would have been better if it gotten an ip67 feature or at the very least, waterproof. The NFC feature is not that ground shaking because seldom can you use it here in the Philippines. For the 4.7inch iPhone 6, it's does not create a strong attraction for current iPhone5 or 5S users. It just looks a line bigger compared to the 5S. But, the iPhone 6 plus with its 5.5inch screen makes a bit of a difference. When put sideways, the horizontal mode is something new, giving you a much better view of what you are doing. It reminds me of a the iPad Mini though.. only smaller and I think, this is somewhat a perfect middle ground if you are thinking of getting an iPad Mini or an iPhone.

For the new design, it might be acquired taste but generally, initial impression is meh. The design on the iPhone 5/5S is way better because it looks more refined and elegant. The new design reminds me of the very first iPhone design where it was curvy on the sides. For the screen, bigger might not be better always but for this, it's something to be loved -- Retina HD all the way! Also looks great having an almost edge to edge design!

The question is, should you upgrade? Here are some scenarios:
> If you have lots of money and don't even need to think about it, I'm sure you're not searching Google for 'Should you Upgrade to the iPhone 6 / iPhone 6 Plus?' and end up in my article because you don't need my comments.

> If budget is not a problem but you just have enough money to spare, upgrade is recommended if you are using the iPhone 4S or below. Higher than that like the 5 or the 5S? Just wait for the next one.

> No budget but want to upgrade to show off? Well, forget about it. There are a lot of things more important than showing off. If you have a working phone, be contented with it until you have enough dispensable cash. Remember that your personal needs is more important than a shiny new device unless you want to end up like this guy I saw in the comics:

> From Android to Apple? Each has their own advantages and disadvantages. Depending on what phone you are using, this topic alone can generate a minimum of two articles just to expound. Bottomline, try it first, ask around, and weigh the pros and cons.

Whether you are an Apple fanboy or a hater, you are free to comment and spread your team Apple or team Android love on the net. In the end, it's you who chooses and may the best mobile OS that suit your needs win.
