SM Aura is currently known to house some of the most unique and sought-after yummy restaurants and boutique shops famous around the world. Since Christmas is literally around the corner, SM Aura Premiere partnered with famous French-Filipina artist Olivia d’Aboville, and display her masterpiece called "Giant Dandelions".
Her masterpiece, "Giant Dandelions" is a result of her passion for two things -- art and environmental advocacy. She believes that since Christmas is a season of giving, everyone should partake in giving more care for the environment by being more conscious about it. It's the one thing that many of us neglects the most due to our busy lifestyle.
She specializes in tapestry and textile structures using various techniques to create her woven forms. Ever since from the start even while she was still studying, recycling has been a major component on her pieces. She focuses on mass produced disposable consumer goods like plastic spoons and water bottles and recycle them to create art. Her art is usually sensitive to light, fluidity and movement and mostly known to be inspired by the ocean theme.
Displayed in the SM Aura Premiere Skypark lawn, "Giant Dandelions" features flowers of various heights made from recycled water bottles. The art was also said to be in line with SM's effort in promoting environmental awareness and eco-friendly sustainable development. SM Cares, a division of SM Foundation does its part by supporting communities and providing them opportunities to take part in recycling efforts. Similar to such, a project last 2007 called "trash to cash" was launched to continuously raise environmental awareness.
This Christmas, do check out this masterpiece to lighten up your mood amidst the chaotic traffic Metro Manila has been offering. Enjoy close to a hundred colorful larger than life flowers made from recycled materials where you can walk through, take photos and enjoy this festive season.
Light show is set to music playing every hour from 7:00pm to 10:00pm from November 16 - January 16, 2015 at the SM Aura Premiere Skypark.
