Almost 95% of people I know love burgers. I also do! Who can resist a large juicy burger? Even those on a diet would want even just a bite out of it. But after the recent holidays, I'm sure a lot of people would go on temporary diet, feeling the guilt over their over indulgence on the last few weeks of December. But what if we make a healthier kind of burger? I checked out the internet for a burger recipe that will be the on the healthier side of the scale.
What you will need:
2 (6 1/2 ounce) canned tuna (drained)
2 eggs (beaten)
1 carrot (scraped and finely grated)
1/4 cup italian style dry bread crumbs
1 green onion, finely sliced
2 tbsp chopped flat leaf parsley
1 pinch cayenne pepper
4 tbsp olive oil
4 hamburger buns
Mix tuna, eggs, carrot, breadcrumbs, onion, parsley, and cayenne.
Shape them into patties
Heat olive oil in medium fire on a large skillet
Saute tuna patties for four to five minutes on each side (Be careful when turning them over as they easily fall apart)
Serve on hamburger buns
Feel free to add vegetables you want added on your burger. Finish off with your favorite burger condiments. It's not hard to create a healthy burger as you can see. Since tuna is healthier than meat, you won't feel guilty indulging in your tuna burger and believe me, it's perfect for your new year's resolution of trying to lose weight or eat healthier. Bring it to your office or have your kids eat them at school. It's a good source of protein that gives you more energy for the rest of the day. I used San Marino Tuna Flakes for this recipe and I loved the taste! As their tagline says, "Strength to Enjoy Life", they do provide that and more! Make sure to look for the Protein for Life logo so you know what you’re getting with every delicious bite. For those who like it spicy, it’s also available in a hot and spicy variant (the one with the orange logo).
Enjoy your tuna burger!
