My dilemma every time I am planning to upgrade my smartphone is whether to get it from independent retailers or get it from Smart. Their offers are ever so tempting because they subsidize a huge part of the cost in acquiring these devices! With the upcoming release of the Samsung Galaxy S7, which by the way, is the device that will give Apple a hard time this year, Smart already came out with their offers and a pre-order page for the S7 and the S7 Edge is now available. What's good is that if you pre-order, you get yourself a free Samsung Galaxy VR worth Php 4,990!!
FREE Samsung Galaxy S7 @ Surf Plus Plan 1999
First off, let me show you the plan that comes with the free Samsung Galaxy S7. The offer is that the phone will be FREE when you get the Surf Plus Plan 1999. This plan comes with:
9GB of data per month
150 minutes of calls
200 SMS to all networks
and a free access to the app of your choice, every month.
If you are thinking of getting the S7 Edge instead, You just need to pay a one-time fee (cash out) of 4,800 pesos. All prices mentioned in this post are only available until April 14, 2016. In this plan, you also get the package mentioned above (9GB data/mo, 150 mins of calls, 200 SMS to all network, and app access of your choice). Both plans are under a 24-month contract.

If you do the math, getting the S7 @ plan 1999 will incur you a total cash out of 48,000 pesos and getting an S7 Edge will cost you a total of 52,800.
If you get the devices outside, I've seen prices range from 33,000 to 36,000 pesos for the S7 and the S7 Edge 37,500 to 39,500.
IF you get the S7 from Smart with the Surf Plus Plan 1999, the total cash out of 48,000 less the unit cost when buying outside, which is 33,000 will show you that you will pay 15,000 pesos for the two-year plan. For the S7 Edge, getting the same plan 1999 will save you roughly around that amount also.
Divide 15,000 by 24 months and you'll be paying roughly Php 625 pesos a month. Given that, remember that the plan from Smart comes with data, calls, and SMS allocation with app access. AND A FREE Galaxy VR worth 4,990 (the prices I mentioned above if you buy at retailers outside doesn't include the VR yet. It's free from Smart when you pre-order.)
625 pesos a month for a Smart Surf Plus Plan with 9GB data, 150 minutes of calls, 200 SMS to all networks, and an app access every month sounds very good to me. In the end, you decide where you want to get your device but for me, I'm sticking with what Smart is offering. They've been offering the best telco subsidized deals for years now!
