Maybe there is truth in the Maguindanao vote buying

Sen. Ping Lacson revealed at a roundtable with The Manila Times editors, columnists and reporters that somebody from Maguindanao had approached him and asked for P4 million so he could score impressively in the province.

And how would he rate in the province if he gave P4 million?

You will be Number 14 in the province, was the reply.

Why Number 14? Lacson asked.

Because the higher rankings were already filled up! the man from Maguindanao said.

He said it indicated that those who would be in the first 13 positions would pay more than P4 million.

Lacson said he told the election operator that it was against his principle to buy votes.

Id rather get zero than buy votes! he said.

Lacson did get zero in Maguindanao, which voted 12-0 for Team Unity.

I think that there might be some truth here. Lacson would just not say anything to increase his publicity because he already won. Also, I have a doubt about the Maguindanao elections. If I were to be followed, I suggest that, they dont count those elections return from there.

Election after the election...

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is set to hold special elections today in two towns of Basilan province, said James Jimenez, Comelec information officer. The special elections will be in some barangays of Sumisip town and in the newly created Akbar municipality.

Violent incidents that occured on May 14 2007, urged Comelec to declare failure of elections in those said towns. If the elections continued, it wont be accurate because of those said incidents. Teachers have reportedly refused to serve on the special elections so, Board of election inspectors will take over and serve.

The result of the special election is crucial because it will be the deciding factor as to who will become the mayors of the two towns and the governor of Basilan.

Comelec: Beware of Fake poll papers - June 19 2007

Aquilino Pimentel 3RD, who is hanging on to 12th place in the senatorial contest, on Monday warned that the Commission on Elections could be presented with doctored documents if it holds its inquiry in Maguindanao.

The 12th spot has not been declared thats why it is considered crucial and comelec should not be caught off guard because doctored documents is possible in this kind of situations.

Bedol said the municipal COCs were stolen. After several days he said the COCs were misplaced and can still be located. Stolen is different from misplaced, Pimentel said.

He said the poll commissioners will surely find the documents, and given that 30 days had passed, there are so many things that can be done to the documents.

Pimentel, who ran in the Genuine Opposition ticket, said it would be the first time in history that the Comelec en banc, sitting as National Board of Canvassers, would personally collect election documents.

He urged the Comelec to consider reports from the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) and other poll watchdogs of widespread cheating in the province.

Zubiri said that based on the copies provided to Team Unity, he got 195,000 out of the 212,000 votes cast during in Maguindanao. He said Pimentel received only 67,000 votes.

Pimentel leads Zubiri, 10,865,397 votes to 10,753,836, in the Comelec tabulation. If it is confirmed that Zubiri garnered 195,000 votes in Maguindanao, he would overtake Pimentel by at least 17,000 votes.

Good luck to the both of you. may the one really chosen by the people win.
