PDEA warns Politicians

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on Wednesday warned relatives or immediate family members of politicians to stop their drug activities or they will suffer the same fate of Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim's son.

Last Friday, Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim's 44-year-old son, Manuel, was arrested with three other suspected drug peddlers by PDEA agents on a sting operation in Sta. Cruz Manila.

The mayor's son was nabbed after selling 100 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride, notoriously known as shabu, to a PDEA agent.

What did his father do to him for his son to do this to his father? This had put shame to their family and to his dad's "Shame Campaign".

It is also nice to know that Lim did not use his power to save his son. For me, even as a dad, it is the right thing to do. Not because he didn't love his son but. he loves his son that he doesn't want to do more harm to him by saving him.

Good Job Mayor Lim.

Lim's Shame Campaign, will be implemented in the house

Impressive attendance at the House of Representatives has prompted the House leadership to shelve plans of implementing a “shame campaign” against habitual absentee lawmakers.

House Majority Leader Arthur Defensor informed reporters who attended the weekly Ayes and News Forum in Quezon City of the decision of Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr. to put on hold the plan to impose sanctions on erring members.

Sessions of the 237-man chamber, held Mondays through Thursdays, have been attended by around 200 congressmen. The impressive attendance could largely be attributed to the huge number of neophyte lawmakers, numbering around 100, in the 14th Congress.

“The Speaker has his own reasons for shelving the proposed sanctions because of the fantastic attendance,” Defensor said.

He clarified though that the rules committee that he heads is serious in making public the names of lazy congressmen.

“We are serious and determined in publishing the names of absentee congressmen and the justified absences as well, because we have to continue the impressive attendance,” Defensor asserted.

Lim's Shame campaign is gaining more popularity and winning in most Filipino citizens heart, is now known as a positive political action.

Other head and high officials should also implement this in their own respective departments to reduce graft and corruption, one of Philippines' top problems. Just a few months back, we were tagged as the most corrupt in asia.

Mayor Lim: Dirty Harry Strikes again!

Honestly, I really admire how the new Manila Mayor works. If you notice, not all politicians are like like him. Most of them, do illegal (not in a bad way, like illegal bar and restos along baywalk.) to win the hearts of some of the citizens who benefit from it.

These are the kinds of politicians we need in the Philippines. Another example is Bayani Fernando, whom, doesn't care if he gets the vote of those squatters he evicted, which, in the first place, they really don't own.

Whats different from Mayor Lim is, he doesn't care if he clashes with high ranking, big celebrities or huge tycoons. to him, whats right is right and wrong, well, it doesn't matter how much money, name and connection you have, is still wrong.

Baywalk project, started by former Mayor Atienza, is currently being demolished because according to Lim, it appeared that the owners were delinquent in paying their rentals and operated without securing building permits.

MCH City Engineering Office chief Armand Andres said the City Building Office issued a notice to the establishment owners two weeks ago. “But instead of waiting for MCH workers to remove the structures, they dismantled their restaurants themselves.”

He said the 200-meter row of restaurants and entertainment bars, from the United States Embassy up to the Manila Yacht Club, had been cleared. The only thing the MCH has to do now is to fix some of the brick tiles that may have been displaced during the demolition of the restaurants and stages.

(This is why I said earlier that, he doesn't care whoever he faces because, whats right is right and vice versa.) As to news reports that Malacañang was reportedly disappointed over the removal of the restaurants along Baywalk, the Mayor reiterated that he was only abiding by the law.

Well, its just not building and / or operating without permits. Its destroying the serene image of the sunrise and sunset, which, Manila Bay is famous for. Also, He admitted that tenants of nearby hotels, such as the Manila Diamond Hotel and adjacent condominium units, have also complained about the din and the dancing that usually starts from 7 p.m. and lasts until 4 a.m. the following day.

Good Job Mayor Lim! Kudos to you sir!

Dirty Harry is back!

Still a Senator, Lim will leave his position to serve as Manila's new mayor. Known for his "shame campaign", he will again revive his shame campaign against drug pushers when he assumes office.

"That’s the only way we could get rid of these drug pushers," Lim told reporters covering the national canvassing by the Commission on Elections at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City.

His "Shame campaign", implemented by spray-painting the houses of drug pushers in the community. He believed that through this strategy, the pushers would stop their illicit activities.

According to Lim, he intends to continue the programs of outgoing Mayor Lito Atienza that are beneficial to city residents.

"If the programs are okay, why should I not continue them? I believe in continuity of programs," he added.

Lim served as police chief of Metro Manila under former dictator Ferdinand Marcos and gained a reputation for being tough on criminals.

He later served as head of the justice department's investigation bureau before being elected mayor of Manila in 1992.

As mayor, he padlocked girlie bars and angered civil rights activists by marking the homes of alleged drug users, prompting accusations that he was abetting extra-judicial killings.

Go Lim!!!
