Typhoon Ondoy strikes hard and long
It's currently 730pm here in metro manila and the rain has been going on for more than 24 hours.
Since we don't have electricity, i will just blog some of my thoughts earlier. (I'm typing this whole blog using my mobile phone)
If this would be (exaggerated) similar to the movie, 'the day after tomorrow', are we ready to go?
I was pondering.. We are here on a purpose. We are just travelers and just passing by this place called earth.
Our purpose, is to help save many as we can.
Not in terms of search and rescue operations, but, through God's salvation.
I am a Christian, yes. In that sense, I am ready. But, the ultimate question would be, how many have you led to the Lord?
Going back to typhoon ondoy, my grandma's place would be one of the least possible places to get flooded. It is elevated enough that there is an approx 45 degree ramp for you to enter the parking area. Today, and as I am typing, their first floor is still flooded.
Nothing I can humanly do now but pray. All roads leading there from where i am currently is flooded.
Hearing and reading a lot of far more worst situations than what my grandma is experiencing now and i want to thank God for keeping my grandma safe. Im praying for the others too.
The skies are improving and the rain is backing down a bit.
I hope this continues and lets all pray for the safety and quick recovery of the Philippines because metro manila is still under state of calamity.
We definitely can't afford another 24hour rain with the few resources the Philippines has.

No politics in JDV and landoil review.
The Presidential Commission on Good Government on Tuesday assured that no politics is involved in the decision to review the behest loan case against Speaker Jose de Venecia and Landoil Resources Corp.
PCGG Chairman Camilo Sabio said the Landoil case was referred to the Office of the Solicitor General for action since records showed that de Venecia and Landoil had failed to comply with the compromise agreement they entered into with the government in July 1988.
In July 1987, PCGG filed a civil case against de Venecia and Landoil for a multi-million dollar behest loan during the administration of late strongman Ferdinand Marcos.
The commission said between 2001 and 2002, it discovered that Landoil reneged on the terms of the settlement.
It was not clear though why the case was not immediately referred to the OSG but records showed that demand letters were sent to Landoil.
Sabio said prior to the filing of the letter to the OSG, dated Nov. 22, 2007, the PCGG received several notices from groups of people saying that de Venecia has an outstanding case regarding Landoil.

House of representatives bombing - nov 13 2007
House Speaker Jose De Venecia condemned the "cowardly and dastartdly act." The Speaker ordered a clean sweep of the Batasan Complex to prepare for the regular session tomorrow afternoon.
President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo ordered the police to investigate the incident and to "submit periodic reports as warranted."
The blast was the first ever bomb explosion inside the premises of the Philippine Parliament.
After the blast, Metro Manila and the Senate were placed under full red alert by the police.
Youth and student groups immediately held an indignation rally around 9:30 pm at the nearby UP Diliman campus. Youth groups also offered candles and prayers for the victims of the bombing.
The explosion was the second major blast which occurred in Metro Manila in less than a month. The first explosion damaged the Glorietta shopping mall last October 19 which killed eleven people and injured a hundred shoppers.
Police authorities are appealing to the public to refrain from spreading wrong information and unfounded theories about the deadly explosion.
Speaker De Venecia assured the people that Congress will not be deterred by the bomb explosion by continuing with its legislative duties in the next few days.

GMA destroyed Luxury cars: all show, no go?
Smugglers beware! GMA is destroying luxury cars. but, dont worry, lambos and horses are safe!
"there was that made-for-PR show last week in which 18 confiscated vehicles were crushed, purportedly as a warning to smugglers. The really fancy ones—including a Ferrari and a Lamborghini—were spared, prompting not a few eyebrows to reach for the ceiling."
"Also, while I agree with the destruction of all confiscated vehicles, it can’t be a selective thing. If you are going to destroy the smuggled goods of one importer, you have to make sure you do the same to those of the others. There can be no double standards if we are to make this campaign work."

When I watched the news last week, I saw 3 BMW x5's, 1 Lincoln Navigator, 1 old BMW, and some "not expensive" minivans (we are talking about luxury cars here).
So, where are those other diamonds like the BMW 7-series, lambos, ferraris and Mbenzes?
Philippines is already a double standard country in terms of the classes. for example, class A high ranking or my-dad-is-a-general citizens, can talk the police out when caught in a traffic violation. and now, cars become double standard too. lambos and ferraris can escape being crushed while those minivans, which I know costs around 300 thousand only(except for the x5's and the navi) are crushed to metal scraps.
oh well. This is the Philippines.
