Violence always erupts during demolition.

You can almost equate shanties to the Philippines. It's everywhere. The government cannot do anything about it.

Trouble erupted Thursday morning when informal settlers protested the dismantling of their shanties on a privately owned land in New Manila, Quezon City.

Someone else owns this land. He has the right. The owner has the right. although, ome 300 residents were up in arms, claiming that they have been regularly paying rent in exchange for their stay in the property.

Past government officials with high positions was visible in that area when it happend. It was expected. This is how politics work here in the Philippines.
