Politicians that have been killed this year exceeded the numbers compared to last year according to Camp Crame. Just one week left, death toll already reached 90. Other election related crimes include 756 charged for illegal possesion of firearms, confiscated 1,993 firearms, 314 pieces deadly weapons, 189 different type of explosives, 840 people under investigation.

One of the latest, a NE political leader was slain. Manuel Tolentino, 58, died of multiple gunshot wounds at a hospital in Gapan City shortly after unidentified gunmen waylaid him along the national highway in Barangay Panganiban. Tolentino, a political leader of re-electionist Mayor Ernesto Natividad of the Bagong Lakas ng Nueva Ecija Party, was driving his car on his way home when ambushed.
