Just one COC!?

The Commission on Elections on Tuesday tabulated only one certificate of canvass (COC) even as it denied allegations it is slowing down its counting to wait for poll manipulations in some areas in Mindanao.

To accuse the Comelec of intentionally delaying the process is most unfair. We wanted to conclude the canvassing in a transparent manner, Comelec Chairman Benjamin Abalos Sr. said.

The Comelec en banc, sitting as the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC), managed to tabulate only the COC from Davao City involving 419,365 votes out of 751,606 registered voters. Seven Genuine Opposition candidates, three Team Unity (TU) and two independents are in the top 12.

The winners in Davao City are Francis Escudero with 268,350 votes; Loren Legarda, with 252,381 votes; Panfilo Lacson, 246,354; Benigno Aquino 3rd, 246,121; Francisco Pangilinan, 218,579; Aquilino Pimentel 3rd, 217,854; Gregorio Honasan, 209,266; Miguel Zubiri, 201,129; Manuel Villar, 200,819l; Alan Peter Cayetano, 191,373; Joker Arroyo, 176,133; and Edgardo Angara, 173,412.
