Bridge Data Roaming Unlimited from Globe Review

I've been out of the country for several weeks and I was fortunate enough to have tried Globe's Bridge Data Roam Unlimited. It's a cool service from Globe and from the networks that are members of the Bridge Alliance Network.
Bridge DataRoam is an add-on subscription plan exclusive to customers of Bridge Alliance operator members’ network* for mobile data roaming usage across the Bridge Alliance operators members’ and partners’ networks.
*Globe Telecom is a member of the Bridge Alliance Network.

In layman's term,  you can use Globe's data services while roaming abroad without worrying about exorbitant charges that skyrockets to infinity. You just pay a fixed amount of fee and you get unlimited data internet** abroad!
**When you subscribe to Bridge Data Roam Unlimited and connect to Globe's partner networks

Here are Globe's partner network:
Hong Kong (CSL)
Singapore (SingTel)
Thailand (AIS)
Malaysia (Maxis)
Macau (CTM)
Australia (Optus)
Taiwan (Taiwan Mobile)
Indonesia (Telkomsel)
India (Airtel)
South Korea (SK Telecom)

Depending on the duration of time you will be needing the Data Roaming Unlimited abroad, here are the rates:
  •  • US$10 for 1-Day
  •  • US$27 for 3-Days
  •  • US$40 for 5-Days

For Globe Postpaid subscribers, to activate your bridge data roaming unlimited here or abroad***, type:
BDU___
Example: BDU Singapore 40 01/01/11
***Roaming rates apply for registrations abroad
Then send to 2884

No need to indicate the date for same day activation. It's that easy. After sending that SMS, you will receive an SMS from Globe informing you that your service is now activated. Take note of the service expiration time and date as indicated in that same SMS.

A few days after staying put in Australia, I decided to try out this service from Globe while in Australia. It was March 11 that time and by texting 'BDU 40 Australia' to 2884, I got this reply,

It was very convenient! Although I wasn't able to maximize the "unlimited" internet that I have with me that time, I was happy and contented because Globe's partner network in Australia, Optus, was fast! Checking mail was my priority that's why I subscribed to the said service. Kudos to Globe for providing such service! It's so worth it!

This coming holy week, I recommend that you don't leave the Philippines without subscribing! Subscribe to it! Print out or save the partner networks and syntax to subscribe to Bridge Data Roaming Unlimited. This really lives up to Globe's saying, "Sa Globe, abot mo ang mundo."

If you want more information on this, you can go to your nearest Globe Business Center or call 211. For prepaid users, unfortunately, this service is not yet available for Globe Prepaid subscribers.Happy trip this holy week! Don't forget this ultimate convenience in data roaming!

Are you familiar with Globe's PowerRoam? Would you know what is better? PowerRoam or BDU when going to HK for a week.

Hi Chef Tonio,
Did you still have other charges when you returned from your trip? I am having sky rocketing overcharge problems now with globe after subscribing to their PowerRoam P499 because it is hard to monitor usage and the usage advise is already too late. Globe doesn't have data roaming sms alert to its users unlike smart. I haven't tried Smart roaming either, i justread on their website that they do this free service. Come to think of it, I think pre-paid would be the best option for a worry free roaming.

To Michael, what did you end up with? I hope you just bought HK pre-paid sim and not the Power roam.
