Oktoberfest 2011 in Manila

Prost!
Oktoberfest event in the Philippines is also widely celebrated. But do you know where you can celebrate Oktoberfest in the most authentic way possible?

On October 20 to 23 2011, Sofitel Manila, in partnership with German club Manila is having a 3-day Oktoberfest celebration! I've seen what the venue will look like and I must say that this is the best Oktoberfest looking setup ever! The theme, ambiance and people serving the beers make you feel as close as you can be to Munich!

The authentic Bavarian fare will also satisfy your cravings from bratwursts to a multitude of other sausages and will surely make you feel at home away from home. If you plan to go to Munich just to attend Oktoberfest, check out what Sofitel has to offer and I'm sure that you'll feel that you are there, at a lesser cost!

They will also play Oktoberfest-themed tunes as the Bavarian Sound Express will play and you can dance all night long!

Oktoberfest History
Oktoberfest is held from late September to the first weekend of October and it was originally only held in Munich, Bavaria Germay. It lasts for around 16~18 days and it's a world famous event with around 5 million people celebrating it.

According to Wikipedia,
The Munich Oktoberfest originally took place during the sixteen days up to and including the first Sunday in October. In 1994, the schedule was modified in response to German reunification so that if the first Sunday in October falls on the 1st or 2nd, then the festival would go on until October 3 (German Unity Day). Thus, the festival is now 17 days when the first Sunday is October 2 and 18 days when it is October 1. In 2010, the festival lasted until the first Monday in October, to mark the 200-year anniversary of the event. The festival is held in an area named the Theresienwiese (field, or meadow, of Therese), often called Wiesn for short, located near Munich's center.
Only beer which is brewed within the city limits of Munich is allowed to be served in this festival. Upon passing this criteria, a beer is designated Oktoberfest Beer. Oktoberfest Beer is a registered Trademark by the Club of Munich Brewers. Large quantities of German beer are consumed, with almost 7 million liters served during the 16 day festival in 2007. Visitors may also enjoy a wide variety of traditional food such as Hendl (chicken), Schweinebraten (roast pork), Schweinshaxe (grilled ham hock), Steckerlfisch (grilled fish on a stick), Würstl (sausages) along with Brezn (Pretzel), Knödel (potato or bread dumplings), Kasspatzn (cheese noodles), Reiberdatschi (potato pancakes), Sauerkraut or Blaukraut (red cabbage) along with such Bavarian delicacies as Obatzda (a spiced cheese-butter spread) and Weisswurst (a white sausage).
As you see, the food to be served in Sofitel is very similar to what was described above. Here are some of the Bavarian fare you can enjoy from October 20 to 23, 2011 when you attend the Oktoberfest in Sofitel Manila, Philippines.
