Should you upgrade to the iPhone 4S? Reasons to upgrade and not to upgrade

iPhone just announced their latest addition to the iPhone family, the iPhone 4S. You might or might not be disappointed because there's no iPhone 5 release but I think Siri made it up for that. It's their style since they had 2 versions of the original iPhone, the iPhone 3g and 3gs and now with the iPhone 4 and the 4S.

Some of my friends lasted for 3 generations of iPhone before changing. He bought the original iPhone and skipped the improved version of the original iPhone, iPhone 3g, iPhone 3gs and he got the iPhone 4. As for me, I'll also be waiting for the iPhone 5, if self-control permits or if I won't find a good deal.

If you have the iPhone 4, do you think an upgrade will be worth it?
This depends on your budget and needs. If you have extra money to spend or if you are a hardcore Apple fanboy or you need the new features, then YES, you should! But how should you distinguish need from want?

Well, if you have an iPhone 4 and you are considering to upgrade to the iPhone 4S, here's the difference between the iPhone 4 and 4S:

Note: If you want reasons to upgrade, read this part. If not, skip to the next part.
- Siri Voice Assistant (Voice command. Watch the demo video I posted below)
Siri on iPhone 4S lets you use your voice to send messages, schedule meetings, place phone calls, and more. Ask Siri to do things just by talking the way you talk. Siri understands what you say, knows what you mean, and even talks back. Siri is so easy to use and does so much, you’ll keep finding more and more ways to use it.
- World Phone. Switch between GSM and CDMA automatically! I remember when I went to Korea years back, I had to rent a CDMA mobile phone. With the new iPhone 4S, travel anywhere in the world (with GSM and CDMA) and use your iPhone without hassle!

- New Camera and features. Use the volume rocker to take a photo, an all new camera hardware with 8 megapixel camera and a 1080p HD video recording! Also, you can edit photos as soon as after taking a photo.

- Faster. Since the RAM is doubled, it will now run faster and smoother compared to the iPhone 4!

- Option: Bigger Memory. The new iPhone 4S has a 64gb variant.

Why you don't need to upgrade to the iPhone 4S?
But in case you feel like you don't need to upgrade, let me give you some reasons to help convince you or someone else why they do not need the upgrade:

1) Siri might not work well here in the Philippines in some aspects like:
Traffic situtations (Unless MMDA/TV5 integrates it with that feature *hint*hint*)
Taglish (Tagalog + English) words for SMS. (This will be the birth of another auto correct type of blog)
Words with "ñ".
One syllable Filipino phrases: Bababa ba? Bababa. (LOL)

2) Bigger memory? Who needs a bigger memory when your iPhone battery can only last a day or less?

3) Faster? iPhone 4 is fast enough for me.

4) New and better camera? You have a SLR/ digital camera/ another mobile phone with a higher resolution (applicable to some) that can do better because they will always perform better in that department. iPhone camera is for emergency purposes and the iPhone 4 camera does the job.

5) World Phone? Useful for some but if you don't travel much, why bother?

6) They look the same. They have the same dimensions and almost weigh the same. Even the weighing scale would have a hard time noticing the difference in weight because it's only 3 grams.

So, are you buying or not? Share your thoughts.
