How to Download Original Licensed Music from the Smart Music Portal

Smart just launched Philippines' largest online music portal, Smart Music. This is in partnership with MCA Music Entertainment Group (now Universal Music Group). This is truly a game changer as we are indeed a step closer to getting legitimate music in a very convenient way. With that, allow me to show you how easy it is to download licensed original songs in a few steps.

Get your own account
1) Go to http://smart.com.ph/music
2) Register (link)
3) Wait for your temporary password* that will be sent via SMS
*For easier access, change your password first prior to doing anything so the you won't have a hard time logging in next time.

Downloading songs
1) Go to http://smart.com.ph/music and login
2) Search for the song you want. You can search by genres, categories, artist, song title and more.
3) Click the song you want
4) Click "Buy"
5) Download to your PC by choosing "Download PC" or get it in your mobile by choosing "Download Mobile". If you choose the latter, you'll receive a download link in your phone.

and, you're done!

Search for the music you want

Confirm by clicking "Buy"

Download either via PC or Mobile. For mobile, a download link will be sent to your mobile phone.

For PC download, a confirmation will appear then you can download by saving the file.

For mobile download, a link will be sent for you to download. The link will be active for 24 hours.

Check out your purchased music by going to My Music > My Purchases

So there! Very easy! Songs costs around P15 ~ P30 (varies). For payments, it will either be deducted via your prepaid credits or billed to you if you are on postpaid. (For Smart / Talk 'N Text subscribers only)

Until July 31, 2013, enjoy "2" free downloads! The music I downloaded above was using the two free download credits as part of their launch promotion so take advantage of it and download original music now!

For mobile downloads, you can forward the link to your other devices (e.g. back-up android phone) and download that same song to multiple devices. To download, simply click the download link in the SMS and login using the account you used to purchased your song.
